Trump Accuses Dems of Influencing California Election

President Trump accused California Democrats of attempting to influence the California election through late mail-in ballots.

“The Dumocrats are at it again! They are trying to STEAL THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA PRIMARY, AND THE MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES, PRIMARY, AWAY FROM TWO GREAT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. ” Here we go with the very late and massive numbers of MAIL IN BALLOTS.”

“There’s BIG cheating by the Dumocrats in California. Votes are all tied up. May not be in for weeks,” he wrote in a separate post. “Under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. Why the vote counting DELAY???”

Governor Gavin Newsom (D) criticized Trump’s comments. “Trump is lying about California again — time to take the phone away from grandpa and put him to sleep,” he wrote on X.

As of Wednesday evening, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass held the lead over Spencer Pratt, with 35% of the vote compared to Pratt’s 29.9%. Republican Steve Hilton held the lead for the state’s governor, with 27.6% of the vote compared to Democrat Xavier Becerra 25.6%.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) told Fox News that Pratt is “catching fire among ardent historic Democrat voters because Karen Bass has been so ineffective. And every time she opens her mouth, she’s talking about more of the same to people who have seen their streets, both crime-ridden and in fact … ineffectively managed.”

Bass failed to secure a majority in Tuesday’s municipal primary, pushing her into a November runoff against Pratt. The outcome is a significant blow to Bass, who entered the race backed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, former Vice President Kamala Harris, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the city’s most powerful labor unions.
