Truck Convoys From All Over U.S. Rally in Indiana Forming One Pack Headed to D.C.

Trains of trucks, cars, and RVs from all over the nation created one large convoy in Monrovia, Indiana late Wednesday before heading toward Washington on Thursday.

QUICK FACTS:
  • The People’s Convoy converged on Monrovia, Indiana on Wednesday where groups from all over the nation gathered before moving toward Washington D.C.
  • An initial group started from California on Feb. 23 and made its way through several states, picking up participants along the way, according to The Epoch Times.
  • Estimates on how many vehicles are in the group are difficult to make, but thousands are expected to be part of the formal convoy.
LEADERS’ STATEMENTS ON THE CONVOY:
  • General Todd Rokita and Missouri Republican Senate candidate Mark McCloskey attended a rally held for the convoy. “I’m very proud to be here amongst fellow Hoosiers and Americans who care about their country,” Rokita told The Epoch Times.
  • “I was humbled to offer them encouragement this evening but they gave me back much more inspiration and motivation. I can tell you one thing, you look at this crowd, you look at the highways coming here, you look at the overpasses, and [you can say that] the socialists will never complete their takeover of the United States,” he said.
  • Brian Brase, one of the convoy organizers, said late Wednesday that the “American people are waking up and they’re marching east.”
  • “You can stand up to a government that wants to violate your Constitutional rights … and you should. At this point, this is your civic duty to stand up, it is the civic duty of all Americans, of all citizens of the world, to stand up, Brase said to the attendees at the event.”
  • “Freedom isn’t free … Freedom takes sacrifice,” he said, adding that people are giving up their incomes and time with loved ones in order to participate in the convoy.
BACKGROUND:
  • The truckers are imitating the protest held by Canadian truckers who formed a 45-mile long group and converged on Ottawa, Canada in January, with healthy support from citizens, as Fox News reported.
  • Capital Hill law enforcement have been working overtime to prepare for the rally.
  • Requests have been made for National Guard troops and additionally fencing at the capitol, too, according to the Police Tribune.
