Trans-Identifying Males Banned from Female Wards in British Health Proposals

The announcement is part of the U.K.’s return to a “common-sense approach to sex and equality issues.”

QUICK FACTS:
  • British Health Secretary Steve Barclay announced at a Manchester conference that transgender males are to be prohibited from female hospital wards.
  • The effort confronts the NHS’s “wokery” that threatens women’s rights, Barclay said.
  • In discussing the changes in health policies, Barclay explained, “We need a commonsense approach to sex and equality issues in the NHS – that is why today I am announcing proposals for clearer rights for patients.”
  • Under the new policies, transgender patients would be housed in either their own rooms or in a separate area.
  • Home Secretary Suella Braverman supported Barclay’s plans, telling reporters, “Trans women have no place in women’s wards or indeed any safe space relating to biological women.”
  • “And the Health Secretary is absolutely right to clarify and make it clear that biological men should not have treatments in the same wards and in the same safe spaces as biological women,” she continued.
  • LGBTQ charity, Stonewall, reacted to the announcement, claiming the revised policies will “restrict access to healthcare for trans women, by making it humiliating and dangerous.”
SEX-SPECIFIC LANGUAGE RESTORED:
  • “And I can today confirm that sex-specific language has now been fully restored to online health advice pages about cervical and ovarian cancer and menopause,” Barclay added in the conference.
  • “It is vital that women’s voices are heard in the NHS and the privacy, dignity, and safety of all patients are protected,” he said.
  • A source familiar with Barclay’s plans welcomed the changes, telling The Daily Telegraph that gender-inclusive language, such as “chestfeeding” effectively “exasperates the majority of people.”
  • The source noted that the Health Secretary is “concerned that women’s voices should be heard on healthcare and that too often wokery and ideological dogma is getting in the way of this.”
BACKGROUND:
  • In the United States, the American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) recently launched a new “biological integrity” initiative aimed at exposing the dangers of transgender procedures on children.
  • “We have been receiving increasing demands to provide clarity and support on the gender dysphoria issue and it is our hope that the Biological Integrity Initiative will be a valuable, practical resource for everyone involved,” ACPeds Executive Director Dr. Jill Simons said in a statement. “The term biological integrity denotes living in consistency with one’s natural, biological self — the integrated whole of body and mind. Children and adolescents should be loved, and taught to love themselves, as wholly male or female. Children are always born in the right body.”
