Threats of a ‘Possible Cyberattack’ Disrupts Seattle-Tacoma Airport

A potential cyberattack led to significant disruptions at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) on Saturday, causing delays for hundreds of flights as the Port of Seattle grappled with an “internet and web systems outage.”

The airport reported that the outages began earlier in the day, with indications pointing to a possible cyberattack targeting the Port of Seattle.

In a statement, authorities confirmed, “Earlier this morning, the Port of Seattle experienced certain system outages indicating a possible cyberattack.” In response, critical systems were isolated as efforts began to restore full service.

By 8 p.m. ET, the airport had experienced 247 flight delays and six cancellations, according to data from FlightAware, highlighting the widespread impact of the outage on travelers.

The situation remains under investigation as authorities work to fully resolve the issues and determine the extent of the cyber incident.
