Thousands of schools in the U.S. are at risk of closing due to the increase enrollment drop in recent years.
Across the country, parents have found alternatives to traditional school such as homeschooling, private schools and charter schools.
The warning allegedly stems from data by the Brookings Institution looking at an analysis of national enrollment.
Researchers found a decline in elementary and middle school enrollment.
“Enrollment declines are everywhere,” Brookings Institution fellow Sofoklis Goulas said.
