On a recent episode of ABC’s “The View,” co-host Sunny Hostin faced a legal correction after making statements about former Representative Matt Gaetz live on air.
During the broadcast, Hostin slandered Gaetz, alleging he partook in sexual acts with a minor and child sex trafficking across state borders. Following her remarks, she was immediately prompted to read a legal note clarifying Gaetz’s position and the outcomes of investigations concerning him.
Gaetz, formerly a representative in the state of Florida, has faced various allegations over the years, including sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, received improper gifts, provided special favors to individuals with whom he had personal relationships, and obstructed the House investigation.
Gaetz has repeatedly denied these allegations, stating that they are “totally false.” Gatez was completely cleared of these allegations by the Biden Justice Department (DOJ).
Alex Pfeiffer, a Trump transition spokesperson, spoke to ABC News, stating, “The Biden Justice Department investigated Gaetz for years and cleared him of wrongdoing. The only people who went to prison over these allegations were those lying about Matt Gaetz.”
Sunny Hostin has jumped on the train to smear Gaetz pending his appointment to the Trump Administration, but even The View is aware of the legal ramifications of slandering another on air.
