Texas Rep. Calls for Impeachment of Judge Halting Deportation Flights

Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) announced that he would be filing articles of impeachment later this week against Judge James Boasberg.

Boasberg issued an order Saturday stopping the deportation flights of Venezuelan gang members.

Elon Musk issued a similar impeachment call, writing, “The very worst judges – those who repeatedly flout the law – should at least be put to an impeachment vote, whether that vote succeeds or not.”

Other Republican representatives have sought to impeach judges blocking President Donald Trump’s efforts.

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) filed articles of impeachment against U.S. District Judge Amir Ali after the judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s foreign aid suspension.

The articles state that the judge “engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with the trust and confidence placed in him as a Federal judge.”

“In issuing a temporary restraining order against the ‘pausing’ of funds promulgated in Executive Order 14169, Judge Ali has without merit marginalized the President’s Article II authority,” the document explained, describing the move as a “patent violation of Constitutional precedent.”

Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) also introduced a resolution to impeach U.S. District Court Judge Paul Engelmayer for temporarily blocking the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing Treasury Department information.

“Paul Engelmayer, as a judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, engaged in judicial misconduct when he halted President Donald J. Trump’s Executive order establishing and implementing the President’s Department of Government Efficiency on purely political grounds, demonstrating clear bias and prejudice against the President and the 74,000,000 Americans who voted for him,” the resolution said.
