Tennessee Rep. Introduces Bill to Rename Nashville Airport to ‘Trump International Airport’

Republican State Representative Todd Warner of Tennessee has filed a bill to rename Nashville International Airport (BNA) to Trump International Airport. The proposal, filed on Friday, seeks to honor President-elect Donald Trump, who is set to assume office for a second term.

This is not the first time Republican lawmakers have proposed renaming an airport in Trump’s honor. In April 2024, during Trump’s campaign for the presidency, Virginia Republicans suggested renaming Dulles International Airport the Donald J. Trump Airport, though the effort ultimately stalled.

BNA, one of the fastest-growing airports in the U.S., has seen a significant rise in popularity, making the proposal notable for the city’s national and international reputation. Representative Warner has not yet commented on the potential political and public reactions to the proposal, but the initiative is likely to generate both support and controversy.

The bill will now proceed through the legislative process in Tennessee, where it will face scrutiny and debate in the coming weeks.

Travelers planning to fly in or out of Nashville International Airport (BNA) last week faced significant disruptions as winter weather swept across Middle Tennessee.

According to FlightAware, 292 flights have been canceled at BNA so far, impacting both arrivals and departures.

Canceled departures include flights to major cities such as Atlanta, Dallas, New York, and Miami. On the arrivals side, flights from Pittsburgh, Denver, Tampa, and Raleigh/Durham, among others, have been grounded.

Airlines affected by the cancellations include Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and Air Canada.

Passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines for updates and consider rescheduling their travel plans as the winter storm continues to affect the region.
