Taxpayer-Funded Youth Center Shares Drag Tutorials

An Ohio LGBT youth center is teaching drag to children.

The taxpayer-funded Colors+ Youth Center is intended to support “the local arts and culture sector.”

The location describes itself as “a safe space to empower LGBTQ+ youth and allies to grow.”

The website adds, “Our intention is to strengthen the LGBTQ+ youth community and allies through advocacy, support, education, and celebration.”

At the center, Youth Drag Tutorials are held to teach drag “fundamentals,” such as “makeup, costume design, and performance.”

A Gender+ Playgroup is also held once a month for “gender expansive/diverse youth ages 3-11.”

Reporting from The National Pulse:

The center also provides what it calls a Gender+ Playgroup once a month for “gender expansive/diverse youth ages 3-11,” and provides networking opportunities for potential groomers by “connect[ing] families and caregivers with each other."

The center claims its activities are “age-appropriate, peer-driven, and affirming for all involved.”
