Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has signed bills that make mailing abortion pills a state crime and strengthen Louisiana’s existing “trigger” law that will ban nearly all abortions if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade.

A measure to outlaw the mailing of abortion-inducing drugs has passed the Louisiana legislature, heading to Gov. John Bel Edwards for consideration.

"We have a responsibility as human beings to do everything we can to protect that baby’s life and the life of the mother," said Gov. Stitt.
