The Capitol Police officer who fatally shot Ashli Babbitt during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol "will not be facing internal discipline," Capitol Police said Monday.
The FBI has turned up no evidence that the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol was a coordinated attempt to launch an insurrection against the United States government by overturning the results of the presidential election, according to officials who spoke to Reuters Friday.
On Wednesday night's episode of "ReidOut," left-wing MSNBC host Joy Reid resurfaced the 2017 Charlottesville rally and the Jan. 6 Capitol riot to paint conservatives as terrorists and claim that the Republican Party is "harboring" a "white nationalist insurgency." Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California also appeared on the progressive cable TV show, where he said members of the GOP are "starting to kill our kids" because of their opinions on the COVID-19 vaccine.
At his campaign style speech in Sarasota, Florida, 45th President Donald Trump mentioned Ashli Babbitt, the Air Force Veteran slain on January 6, for the first time publicly. President Trump revealed that he met with Babbitt’s grieving family, and also asked why so many January 6 protesters are still in jail, and slammed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for refusing to fight for them.
