State Sen. Lynda Wilson (R-Vancouver) criticized the legislation, stating, “HB 1240 clearly violates our state and federal constitutions, which is why it will end up in court immediately."
Baldwin has maintained that the gun discharged accidentally, claiming that he did not pull the trigger, even though an FBI forensic report concluded that the weapon could not have fired without the trigger being pulled.
“I can’t think of any bill that’s going to provide more protections to more people who are more vulnerable than this piece of legislation," said Rep. Beltran.
The lawsuit, according to Bragg, is "in response to an unprecedently brazen and unconstitutional attack by members of Congress on an ongoing New York State criminal prosecution and investigation of former President Donald J. Trump."
