Swedish Elderly Citizens Denied Quality Care While Government Spends Millions on Illegal Immigrants

Elderly citizens of Sweden are denied quality care at nursing homes amid a migrant crisis.

While residents at a dementia home are given porridge without milk due to a lack of funds, the government has spent millions on illegal immigrant accommodations.

“The money has run out,” said the manager of a nursing home, Sofia Persson.

Food is not publically funded for all residents if they can afford to buy their breakfast.

Elderly citizens in wheelchairs or those who cannot take care of themselves are also denied a spot in nursing homes.

Staff members of the nursing homes reported communication difficulties as many of them are new to the country or lack proper training.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Eslöv has spent millions of dollars, or Swedish krona, on hotels for migrants.

Reporting from Remix:

As early as 2015, Reuters reported that Sweden’s soaring costs for asylum seekers were forcing the country to cut costs and borrow more.

At that time, Sweden’s Migration Agency had doubled its financial forecast for asylum seekers and stated that it would require an extra 70 billion Swedish crowns ($8.41 billion) over the next two years. Since then, Sweden’s migrant population has only exploded higher.

...

The same story has played out across Europe, with figures from Germany showing the country is set to spend €36 billion alone this year, 2023, on migrants even as is cuts services and funds to the elderly.
