Stacey Abrams Promotes Abortion as a Fix for Recession

The Georgia gubernatorial candidate has no children.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Georgia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams claims that the best solution to the Democrat-caused recession is to abort your children.
  • “The reason you’re concerned about your petrol costs is because you have kids,” Abrams said during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Show.
  • Abrams is 48-yr-old and childless and a staunch propionate for abortion rights. She also seemed positive that the economic crisis could be solved if fewer children were born.
  • “Having children is why you’re worried about your price for gas. It’s why you’re concerned about how much food costs,” Abrams explained. “For women, this is not a reductive issue. You can’t divorce being forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy from the economic realities of having a child.”
MORE COMMENTS FROM ABRAMS:
  • “Right now we are walking away so often from the real issues that people care about. Abortion is an economic issue. It’s been reduced to this idea of a culture war,” Abrams said.
  • “But for women in Georgia, this is very much a question of whether they’re going to end up in poverty in the next five years because women who are forced to carry unwanted pregnancies end up within poverty — they’re four times more likely to be impoverished in five years,” the Democrat told the hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
  • “It’s only politicians who see it as simply another cultural conversation. It is a real biological and economic imperative conversation that women need to have,” she said.
BACKGROUND:
  • Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) responded to Abrams’s comments, saying they were “despicable” and that “ending human life is not a solution for inflation.”
  • National Review writer Dan McLaughlin commented, “I didn’t really expect Democrats to go with ‘you know, it’s cheaper to feed your family if you kill a few of them’ as a closing argument, yet here we are.”
