Spain Creates Europe’s First AI Task Force

Spain has created Europe’s first artificial intelligence (AI) policy task force, taking the first step in determining laws surrounding the controversial technology.

The Council of Ministers, approved a Royal Decree to create the “Spanish Agency for the Supervision of Artificial Intelligence (AESIA), a task force committed to determining the global impact of AI technology.

The AESIA, part of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, will seek to create a framework under which Spain can develop its AI technology.

AI has remained a controversial topic for many governments as they aim to find a balanced approach to the technology.

From Fox News:

Leading nations have differed on where to draw that line in the sand, with China reportedly giving its military virtually total freedom to the People Liberation Army (PLA) to experiment with the tech and determine its own limits while requiring any new generative AI platform developments to pass a security check.
