South Carolina Man Sentenced for Public Indecency at International Airport

A South Carolina man has been sentenced to nearly three years in federal prison after a shocking display of public indecency at Indianapolis International Airport.

George Stevens, 38, pleaded guilty to interference with security screening personnel and assault of a federal officer. A federal judge sentenced him to 33 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana.

On July 15, 2023, Stevens was passing through a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint when officers selected him for additional screening. When a TSA agent began a routine pat-down, Stevens became confrontational, repeatedly calling the officer a “freak” and refusing to comply with instructions.

Officials said Stevens, who appeared intoxicated, escalated the situation by squatting and shaking his buttocks at TSA officers, disrupting multiple checkpoint lines. When an airport police officer arrived, Stevens exposed himself completely, stripping naked in full view of other travelers, including families with small children.

Stevens then threw his jeans over a TSA supervisor’s shoulder, removed his underwear, and flung it at the supervisor before advancing toward him while fully naked. At that point, law enforcement placed him under arrest.

Authorities condemned Stevens’ behavior as a serious disruption to airport security and a disturbing display of public indecency.

“The entirety of Stevens’ lewd assault occurred in full view of the traveling public, including families with small children, who were attempting to navigate the security checkpoint and get to their flights,” federal officials stated.

Stevens’ sentence underscores the federal government’s commitment to maintaining order and security in airports. His actions not only endangered security operations but also forced innocent travelers to witness an inappropriate and disorderly act.
