South Carolina Democrat Promotes Treating White People Poorly

Candidate says white people misbehave if you don’t keep them “under your thumb.”

QUICK FACTS:
  • Project Veritas released audio from a call with current South Carolina state representative and United States Senate candidate Krystle Matthews (D), who said “you gotta treat white people like [expletive]” during her interview.
  • The candidate asserted that she had the ability to be around many different people and that she grew up in a predominately white area.
  • However, according to Matthews, black people have to treat their white counterparts badly if they don’t want them to “get out of control.”
  • “And let me tell you one thing, you oughta know who you’re dealing with, like…you gotta treat them [white people] like [expletive], like I mean that’s the only way they’ll respect you,” she said.
  • The candidate went on to say of white people, “I keep them right here, like under my thumbs. That’s where I keep it, like … you have to, like, otherwise they get outta control like kids.”
PREVIOUS PROBLEMATIC STATEMENTS FROM MATTHEWS:
  • Just weeks ago, Project Veritas released another audio clip of a phone interview with Matthews during which she called for “sleeper” candidates to run as Republicans and illegal campaign donations from drug dealers.
  • “We need some secret sleepers. Like you need them to run as the other side even though they for our side and we need them to win,” Matthews said. “We need people to run as Republicans in these local elections. This is the only way you’re gonna change the dynamics in South Carolina. We can wreak havoc for real from the inside out then we can flip some[expletive] from the inside out.”
  • “And I still gotta struggle to raise money for my campaign?” she said. “Where the [expletive] is my black people with money? I don’t care about no dope money! Give me that dope boy money!” the Senate candidate added. “Where the duffel bag boys? Get you – find me somebody from your family that don’t even know you donating to my campaign and put that [expletive] under they names.”
BACKGROUND:
  • Matthews has come under fire for her statements, particularly by conservatives with the SCGOP such as Chairman Drew McKissick, who is calling for Matthews to resign from her post following the release of the comments.
  • Conservative political duo known professionally as Diamond and Silk tweeted a response to some of Matthews’ comments saying, “This is what a political thug sounds like. This is what we don’t need!”
  • However, some responders came to the candidate’s aide, with former Georgia Congressional Candidate Barrington Martin II calling on Project Veritas to “delete this,” saying that it is “anti-black” and “continues the node of white supremacy in this nation.” The self-proclaimed “thankful philosopher” went on to say that “Black people HAVE to treat whites badly because blacks can’t be racist and they must even the score of generations of anti-black racism by this white nation.”
