Six Shot, One Fatally, in Overnight Chicago Violence

Six people were shot, including one fatally, in separate incidents across Chicago between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, according to police. The victims ranged in age from 25 to 38.

West Garfield Park

The first shooting occurred in the 4400 block of West Fulton Street, where a 26-year-old man was shot once in the abdomen. He was taken to West Suburban Hospital but was unable to speak with officers. No suspects are in custody.

West Roseland

Around 1:30 a.m., a 38-year-old man was shot while parked in the 10900 block of South Princeton Avenue. Two masked individuals approached and opened fire, grazing the victim’s head. He was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition. No arrests have been made.

Chinatown

A 35-year-old man was shot in the buttocks after an altercation in the 400 block of West 24th Street. One of the offenders retrieved a handgun and fired at him. Responding officers arrested the shooter, and charges are pending. The victim was transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

Austin

A 25-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were shot inside an apartment hallway in the 900 block of North Lavergne Avenue. The woman sustained two gunshot wounds to her left leg and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in fair condition. The man suffered a graze wound to his left elbow and declined medical treatment. No suspects are in custody.

South Shore (Fatally Shot)

In the final incident, police found a 29-year-old woman unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest in the 1800 block of East 79th Street. She was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition but later died.

No arrests have been made in connection with her death. Police are continuing their investigations into all incidents.
