Shoplifting Surges in Virginia County Under Soros-Funded Prosecutor

Fairfax County, Virginia, saw a 40% surge in shoplifting after a George Soros-funded prosecutor declared he would not prosecute shoplifting amounting to less than $1,000.

Steve Descano received more than half a million dollars in donations from Soros-affiliated groups in 2020.

Since coming into office, Descano has also decreased abduction and burglary charges that originally would have placed someone in prison for more than 26 years.

One individual was released from prison after only five months and was later arrested again after allegedly killing two homeless men and wounding others in a shooting.

Descano won about 55% of the vote in the Democratic primary last month, positioning him for a likely second term as the top prosecutor for Fairfax County.

Fairfax County Police Department’s Tysons Urban Team recovered almost $1 million worth of stolen merchandise last year.

The retail crime team found more than $930,000 worth of stolen items.

By mid-June of this year, the team recovered over $530,000 in stolen merchandise.

Reporting from Free Beacon:

Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin (R.) signed a bill in March making organized retail theft—stealing more than $5,000 in value with intent to sell—a Class 3 Felony, earning the thief at least five years in prison and up to an $100,000 fine.
