Doctor says he’s a “junk-food-aholic.”
QUICK FACTS:
- Dr. Peter Hotez spoke with podcaster Joe Rogan to discuss various health practices and a potential debate between Hotez and Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
- Dr. Hotez has appeared on MSNBC and is Dean for the National School of Tropical Medicine for Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
- “I’m uncomfortable with the idea of a debate because it’s like debating a Holocaust denier or whether the Holocaust existed,” Hotez claimed.
- “He’s an attorney and he’s very clever and he knows how to do arguments in court. And what am I? I’m a scientist,” Hotez said, referring to Kennedy.
- At another point in the conversation, Rogan asked if the doctor was “cautious” about his diet,” to which Hotez said he is a “junk-food-aholic,” having a poor diet, despite being a doctor.
- Hotez also admitted that he does not take vitamins, but promoted vaccines.
- “Vaccines aren’t going to prevent cancer,” Rogan said. “A lot of these diseases are connected directly to diet.”
- “Can’t be pushing only chemicals and injectables to facilitate health,” the podcaster added.
- “Not chemicals, they’re vaccines,” Hotez corrected, prompting Rogan to ask, “What’s in them?”
- Rogan asked what the “fluid” is in vaccines, to which Hotez said the fluid is “typically saline or salt water.”
$1.52 MILLION OFFERED TO CHARITY IF HOTEZ DEBATES RFK JR.:
- Rogan offered to donate $100,000 dollars to a charity of Hotez’s choice if he debated RFK Jr.
- “Peter, if you claim what RFKjr is saying is ‘misinformation’ I am offering you $100,000.00 to the charity of your choice if you’re willing to debate him on my show with no time limit,” he tweeted.
- RFK Jr. responded to the tweet with, “Peter. Let’s finally have the respectful, congenial, informative debate that the American people deserve.”
- Others added to the donation pot, including commentator Tim Pool, investor Bill Ackman, doctors, and numerous entrepreneurs.
- The pot’s total is now over $1.52 million.
- Without agreeing to the debate, Hotez merely responded, “Joe, you have my cell, my email, I’m always willing to speak with you.”
