Seattle Man Arrested After Slashing Victim with Sword Concealed in Cane

A 41-year-old man in Seattle, identified as Terrell Jones Fisher, was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly using a concealed 2-foot-long sword to slash another man in the face during an argument. The incident occurred at an apartment complex in the 400 block of 8th Avenue South, according to local authorities.

Police reported that the altercation escalated when Fisher pulled a homemade sword from his cane and swung it, injuring the 51-year-old victim with a cut to his lip. Detective Brian Pritchard commented on the weapon, saying, “It’s pretty intimidating to have a blade that long and have it concealed in a cane.”

Officers arrived at the scene around 6:37 a.m. and provided first aid to the victim until paramedics from the Seattle Fire Department transported him to Harborview Medical Center. The victim was reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Fisher fled the scene on a BMX-style bicycle but was apprehended a few blocks away at Hing Hay Park. He was taken into custody and booked into King County Jail. Fisher has since been charged with assault and is being held on $100,000 bail. Court records reveal a criminal history including previous assault and burglary convictions.

This violent incident is part of a troubling trend in the area. Last month, King County Metro temporarily closed bus stops in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District due to widespread criminal activity, including a mass stabbing. The region has gained notoriety for issues such as open-air drug use, sales of stolen goods, and rampant drug trafficking.

Authorities continue to address the rising violence and criminal activity as community concerns grow about public safety in the area.
