Sean “Diddy” Combs is reportedly unhappy with the attention fellow inmate Luigi Mangione is receiving at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn. Mangione, accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has overshadowed Combs, who was previously the facility’s most high-profile inmate following his September 16 arrest on sex trafficking charges.
Sources told The New York Post that Mangione, 26, has become a sensation among inmates, many of whom relate to his alleged anti-insurance company motive. Despite being held in protective custody, Mangione is reportedly viewed as a hero, garnering attention that Combs, 55, has struggled to accept.
“Diddy has been throwing tantrums,” one insider revealed. “Even in prison, Diddy’s ego is bigger than life.” Another former associate described Combs as someone who demands constant attention and reacts poorly to anyone who outshines him.
Combs, housed in general population, is facing serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Federal raids on his Los Angeles and Miami homes in March uncovered incriminating evidence, including videos and paraphernalia linked to alleged non-consensual “Freak Off” sex parties. If convicted, he faces decades in prison.
Mangione, meanwhile, faces life in prison on charges including first-degree murder in furtherance of terrorism. Authorities allege that he killed Thompson after releasing a manifesto against health insurance companies. Despite sharing the same legal team, Combs and Mangione have reportedly not spoken.
Mangione’s growing notoriety, contrasted with Combs’ fading influence, has reportedly created a one-sided rivalry. “He’s not used to not being the center of attention,” said a source close to the case.
Both men remain detained at MDC while awaiting trial. For now, Combs must contend with his diminished status, a reality starkly different from his former life of fame and power.
