Schumer’s $600K Push for ICE Evasion Group Sparks Outrage

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is requesting taxpayer funds for a far-left group under congressional investigation for teaching illegal aliens how to evade U.S. immigration enforcement. The New York Democrat asked for $600,000 for the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) as part of the Senate’s earmark process, despite the group’s controversial role in instructing individuals on how to avoid detection by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

House Republicans, led by Reps. Mark Green (R-TN) and Josh Brecheen (R-OK), launched an investigation into CPC in April. Their concern centers on a video showing CPC chief policy officer Carlyn Cowen telling illegal aliens how to “harden your physical space,” organize “a list of individuals authorized to respond if ICE comes to the door,” and train others involved. She also encouraged restaurant workers to use alert systems to warn coworkers about “La Migra.”

Schumer’s funding request follows years of CPC receiving over $1.4 million in earmarks and accepting donations from groups linked to the Chinese Communist Party, according to federal records and reports. This comes amid surging public support for secure borders. A CBS poll this week showed 54 percent of Americans back President Donald Trump’s deportation initiative, while only 30 percent think it makes the country less safe.

Schumer is not alone. Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) have both requested taxpayer funding for CHIRLA, a group that has called to abolish ICE and has been involved in violent anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles.
