Never-Trumper Rick Wilson, co-founder of The Lincoln Project, was banned from X on Wednesday after posting an article titled “Kill Tesla, Save The Country.”
Wilson’s Substack piece described Tesla as “a bank for fascists” and accused Elon Musk of seeking control over the U.S. government. Initially suspended for 30 days, Wilson later revealed his penalty was escalated to a full ban.
“This is the article that got me banned on Twitter,” Wilson wrote on Bluesky. “Nazis? Fine. Racist freaks? Perfectly OK. Describing a social and media campaign to hit Tesla’s stock price? Sissy SpaceX freaks out.”
Wilson also posted a video mocking Musk, claiming he was not advocating violence. However, he previously stated in 2015 that the “donor class” needed to “put a bullet in Donald Trump” and doubled down on such rhetoric even after the 2024 assassination attempt on Trump.
Meanwhile, left-wing activists have escalated attacks on Tesla properties nationwide. On Tuesday, five Tesla vehicles were damaged in an arson attack at a Las Vegas Tesla Collision Center. A woman in Colorado was charged in January for throwing a Molotov cocktail into a Tesla dealership and spray-painting “nazi cars.” Similar incidents have been reported in Massachusetts, Oregon, and South Carolina.
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced charges Thursday against three individuals accused of vandalizing Tesla properties and committing arson.
“The days of committing crimes without consequence have ended,” Bondi stated. “Let this be a warning: if you join this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, the Department of Justice will put you behind bars.”
Jimmy Kimmel recently joked about the vandalism, sarcastically telling his audience, “Please don’t vandalize Tesla vehicles.”
