Some Republicans are calling for President Joe Biden to submit to a drug test before debating former president Donald Trump.
“The truth of the matter is if you saw the State of the Union and you watched that performance, it was surreal. There was something going on, and if we could find the truth of what it was, we’re all better off,” Senator Tim Scott said over the weekend. “If it takes artificial stimulation to make the President of the United States perform, how often can he do that?”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida also called for Biden to be drug tested ahead of the debate.
“We’re talking about someone who has the ability to launch nukes,” Luna said.
Donald Trump and Joe Biden will debate each other on June 27, according to a press release from CNN.
An audience will not be present at the debate to “ensure candidates may maximize the time allotted in the debate.”
“I’ve received and accepted an invitation from @CNN for a debate on June 27th,” Biden wrote on X. “Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place.”
Trump wrote on Truth Social, “It is my great honor to accept the CNN Debate against Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST PRESIDENT in the History of the United States and a true Threat to Democracy, on June 27th. Likewise, I accept the ABC News Debate against Crooked Joe on September 10th. Thank you, DJT!”
