Repeat Offender Horror: Minnesota Suspect Accused of New Kidnapping and Rape

A repeat offender with a history of sex crime convictions is now accused of kidnapping and raping a Minnesota woman while on probation, raising renewed scrutiny over local sentencing decisions. Prosecutors said Abdimahat Bille Mohamed, 28, used Snapchat in September to pick up a woman from her Mankato home before taking her to a hotel in Bloomington.

According to FOX 9, the victim told investigators that once she entered Mohamed’s vehicle, he said, “You’re not going home.” When she attempted to escape, he allegedly took her phone and told her, “You’re not leaving.” Prosecutors said he held the victim for several days while sexually assaulting her. Nearly a week later, on Sept. 21, she escaped by jumping from Mohamed’s vehicle on Aldrich Avenue South, where a resident found a “very distraught and shaken up” woman and called police.

The accusations come less than four months after Mohamed avoided prison time in two separate sexual assault cases, including one involving a 15-year-old girl. Court documents show Mohamed previously met the minor on Snapchat in 2017 before driving her to Minneapolis, where two men allegedly held her at gunpoint and Mohamed raped her. In May 2024, he was again arrested for luring a woman to his apartment and assaulting her, with the victim telling a paramedic she had been strangled and threatened with a firearm.

Despite these cases, FOX 9 reported that Mohamed received stayed prison sentences and credit for time served, resulting in no prison time. He is now charged with felony third degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, and additional sexual assault counts. Mohamed remains held on $300,000 bond at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility.
