U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) has announced via Twitter that the long-awaited surveillance tapes from the January 6, 2021 events at the Capitol Building are finally being released.

In her tweet on Wednesday, Greene confirmed that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had given several journalists, including John Solomon of Just the News and Julie Kelly of American Greatness unrestricted access to the footage, in a move heralded as a win for transparency.

“This is the transparency the American people deserve and I look forward to their reporting!” Greene expressed enthusiastically in her tweet.

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson in March had received over 40,000 hours of the aforementioned surveillance footage.

The footage had been concealed from public view for more than two years following the Capitol riot.

Carlson, known for his frank and candid commentaries, released never-before-seen footage from the incident.

This footage seemed to “dispel several narratives pushed by the Democrat-controlled House Select Committee and the legacy media,” according to Fox.

Carlson at the time highlighted footage of Trump supporters touring the Capitol building peacefully, a sight that stands in stark contrast to the scenes of violent clashes that dominated the news coverage of January 6.

The footage proved that lawmakers and the media were “lying” about the events that took place on that day, according to Carlson.

In her new tweet, Greene shared the sentiment, eagerly looking forward to the reporting from the journalists provided access to the tapes.

“This is the transparency the American people deserve,” she stated, hinting at the potential revelations that could come with the comprehensive analysis of the footage.

The release of the tapes promises to shed new light on the events of January 6, 2021, potentially offering a perspective different from that presented in most mainstream media coverage.

With the involvement of experienced journalists such as Solomon and Kelly, the public will have the opportunity to gain a more nuanced understanding of the happenings on that day.

While the extent to which these tapes will impact public opinion and the narrative surrounding the events of January 6 remains to be seen, their release is a significant step towards greater transparency and deeper insight into one of the most controversial incidents in recent American history.
