Rep. Jim Jordan Confirms Bid for Speaker of the House

In a heartfelt letter to his colleagues, U.S. Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Wednesday officially announced his intention to run for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives, following Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) Tuesday ouster.

Rep. Jordan commenced the letter by acknowledging the successes achieved by the Republican majority in the first nine months of the 118th Congress amidst the “divided times.”

The Congressman candidly expressed his concerns over what he perceives as detrimental far-left progressive policies.

He noted, “Far-left progressive policies are destroying our communities, our security, and our future.”

The Ohio congressman pointed to the “soaring crime across the country” and criticized the current administration for its open-border policies, which he believes have caused chaos and left the nation vulnerable.

Furthermore, Rep. Jordan accused federal agencies of acting against American citizens by “silencing speech online, targeting parents at school board meetings, and flagging pro-life Catholics as potential threats,” underscoring what he views as “blatant double standards in federal law enforcement.”

He urged his Republican colleagues to remain committed to addressing critical issues such as the rising crime rates in major cities, fiscal responsibility, and constitutional oversight of federal bureaucracies.

He emphasized: “We must address rising crime in major cities and reject soft-on-crime, pro-criminal policies. We must get our fiscal house in order and reduce spending so that we can leave more to the next generation than a crushing deficit. We must do our constitutional oversight of the federal bureaucracy to ensure they work for the American people-not the other way around. And we must continue working to secure the border and protect our national security.”

Recalling the consensus at the onset of the 118th Congress, Rep. Jordan mentioned the three fundamental responsibilities of the House: “pass the bills that need to be passed, do the oversight, and rein in the spending.”

He highlighted his collaborative efforts with Chairman Green and other leadership figures in delivering “the most significant legislative accomplishment this Congress: the strongest immigration and border enforcement bill ever.”

The Republican representative praised the collective efforts in doing the oversight and holding the Administration accountable.

With a call for unity, he stressed that this is a critical juncture in the nation’s history, urging the Republican conference to “come together to keep our promises to Americans.”

In a plea for support for his bid for Speaker of the House, Jordan wrote, “Now is the time for our Republican conference to come together to keep our promises to Americans. The problems we face are challenging, but they are not insurmountable. We can focus on the changes that improve the country and unite us in offering real solutions. But no matter what we do, we must do it together as a conference.”

“I respectfully ask for your support for Speaker of the House of Representatives,” he said.
