Representative Jim Banks (R-IN) obtained footage of U.S. troops to fact-check Vice President Kamala Harris after she claimed there are “no active-duty troops deployed to war zones.”
“My office just obtained footage of US troops under fire in the Middle East. These attacks occurred within the last couple of weeks/months,” Banks wrote on X. “Reminder, Kamala Harris lied to the entire world last week when she said that we currently have no active duty troops deployed in war zones!”
“Unfit to lead!” he declared.
The video shows various war zones where U.S. troops are stationed.
Retired Army Col. and military analyst Jonathan Sweet told The New York Post that as many as 50,000 U.S. service members are in countries that are receiving either “hostile fire” or “imminent danger pay.”
Michael DeMino of Defense Priorities, a think tank, told the outlet, “If you’re in Jordan in the middle of nowhere to fight ISIS, and you’re getting attacked by Iranian drones and rockets on a daily basis, you’re in a war zone.”
“Those quibbling qualifiers ignore the fact American men and women in uniform are getting shot at on daily basis, and many just in the last eight months have died or been injured,” he said.
