In a significant development, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has moved to file an impeachment inquiry against Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, according to a Wednesday press release.
The Congresswoman has petitioned the Judiciary Committee to commence a thorough investigation into what she calls Mayorkas’s “dereliction of duty and violation of border security laws.”
Greene ardently claims that it is high time that serious concerns regarding Secretary Mayorkas’s actions, which she believes have jeopardized the safety and sovereignty of the nation, are addressed.
She accuses Secretary Mayorkas of “aiding and abetting the invasion of our country, deliberately flooding it with drugs, terrorists, and illegal immigrants from over 160 countries.”
The Congresswoman’s concerns have been fueled by alarming statistics which have emerged under Secretary Mayorkas’s tenure.
Greene lamented, “The sheer magnitude of approximately 6 million illegal border encounters and the record amount of fentanyl, totaling approximately 40,000 pounds, seized under Secretary Mayorkas’s tenure is deeply troubling.”
She further emphasized the gravity of the situation, noting, “With over 300 Americans dying from fentanyl each day, these numbers underscore his dereliction of duty and blatant violation of border security laws.”
The Congresswoman’s press release also pointed out that over 193 individuals on terrorist watchlists were caught attempting to cross the border at various points of entry.
This, she insists, is a “grim reminder of the urgent need to address the issues at hand and ensure the safety and security of our nation.”
Greene also raises serious concerns over what she sees as the Secretary’s prioritization of resources for undocumented immigrants over American citizens.
In one striking example, she recounts how Secretary Mayorkas “provided copious amounts of baby formula to illegal aliens at one of the largest processing centers in the country, while American mothers and infants were enduring severe shortages.”
Furthermore, she alleges that the Secretary’s policies have placed undue strain on healthcare resources, leading to “a flood of illegal aliens in a hospital’s maternity unit, resulting in American mothers being compelled to delay their inductions.”
The press release asserts that the impeachment inquiry serves to give voice to the American public’s concerns, ensuring that the actions of elected officials are held to the highest standards of transparency and accountability.
In her statement, Greene declares her unwavering dedication to the well-being of the American people and confirms her commitment to holding Secretary Mayorkas accountable for his actions, calling his alleged violations of border security laws and dereliction of duty a serious matter that warrants a comprehensive investigation.
