Record Cold Weather Cancels Candidate Events Ahead of Iowa Caucuses

Record-breaking cold weather and winter storms have canceled some events just ahead of the Iowa Caucuses.

Competing for GOP votes in the caucuses include Former President Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, Asa Hutchinson, Nikki Haley, and Ryan Binkley.

According to the Des Moines Register, National Weather Service data reveals the coldest caucus night forecast in state history.

“There were moments on the drive up here, I was like, ‘What are we doing?’” Iowa resident Kadee Miller said. “The reason we drove up here is to really see who she is,” referring to candidate Nikki Haley.

“It’s important. It’s kind of our civil duty, right?” said Miller. “So that’s what we have to do.”

Des Moines-based meteorologist Chad Hahn said Monday is expected to be in the negative temps.

“We may not warm above zero degrees on Monday,” he said. “I would not be surprised if we don’t get above minus-20 degrees for wind chills beginning on Sunday.”
