Tattoo artist and reality TV sensation, Kat Von D, has taken a spiritual turn as she recently shared a video of her Christian baptism on Instagram, following her renunciation of occult and witchcraft last year.
The video, posted on Tuesday, was accompanied only by a cross symbol as the caption, showcasing a significant shift in her spiritual beliefs.
Kat Von D, born Katherine von Drachenberg, has been synonymous with a dark and macabre aesthetic, often reflected in her personal style and home decor.
However, it seems the 41-year-old celebrity is on a journey of spiritual self-discovery, which led her to embrace Christianity, rooted in the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.
In the baptism video, a pastor can be heard proclaiming, “Katherine von Drachenberg, upon your profession of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in obedience to His Divine command, I baptize you, my sister, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,” before immersing her into the water.
Dressed in a white robe, an elated Von D emerged from the water to hug the pastor, symbolizing her new-found faith.
This spiritual transition was prefaced by Von D’s public disclosure last year where she talked about discarding certain personal items she found incongruent with her life’s path.
In a heartfelt Instagram post shared in July 2022, she wrote, “I don’t know if any of you have been going through changes in your lives right now, but in the last few years I’ve come to some pretty meaningful realizations — many of them revolving around the fact that I got a lot of things wrong in my past.”
Von D further narrated her endeavor to cleanse her personal library, “Today, I went through my entire library, and threw out books that just don’t align with who I am and who I want to be.”
Known for her appreciation of the macabre, she queried her relationship with such content, “I’ve always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself what is my relationship with this content? And the truth is, I just don’t want to invite any of these things into our family’s lives, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, collecting dust on my shelves.”
Discussing a “spiritual battle,” she revealed how it prompted a reassessment of the items in her possession.
The images accompanying the post showcased tarot cards and witchcraft books, indicating a clear departure from her previous mystical inclinations.
She concluded her message by expressing love and understanding for everyone irrespective of their spiritual standing, “In no way is this post designed to put anyone down if you’re into this stuff, because I think we are all on our own journey, and I love everyone regardless of where they might be at.”
In a moment of reflection, she acknowledged the ongoing spiritual battle and her desire to envelop her family in love and light.
With a heart full of gratitude, she sent out love to her followers, hoping they too find meaningful changes in trying times, “With that being said, I want to send extra love to everyone out there, and hope through some of these trying times, you are making meaningful changes in your life, too.
