Reality TV Star Blasts LA’s Corruption in Mayoral Run

Reality TV personality Spencer Pratt launched a mayoral campaign for Los Angeles, targeting the state’s negligence surrounding the devastating fires of last year.

“I am running for mayor,” Pratt said. “And let me be clear, this just isn’t a campaign, it is a mission. And we are going to expose the system. WE are going into every dark corner of LA politics and disinfecting this city with our light. And when we are done, LA is going to be camera ready again.”

“The system in Los Angeles isn’t struggling, it’s fundamentally broken,” Pratt told a crowd upon announcing his campaign. “It is a machine designed to protect the people at the top and the friends they exchange favors with while the rest of us drown in toxic smoke and ash. Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I’m done waiting for someone to take real action. That’s why I am running for mayor. And let me be clear, this just isn’t a campaign, this is a mission, and we’re going to expose the system.”

Pratt’s wife, Heidi Montag, told The New York Post that the city “intentionally let us burn before, during and after.”

“There was no accountability. It was gross negligence. They let this happen,” she said. “It wasn’t a natural disaster or something that was unavoidable. It was their fault, and we need the accountability we deserve.”

Special Presidential Envoy Richard Grenell endorsed Pratt, writing on X, “I endorse [Spencer Pratt] for Mayor of Los Angeles and will help raise money for him.” He declared that the city needs transparency and emphasized that “Spencer has the passion and the drive to make positive change for Los Angeles.”
