Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) doubted the doctor’s assertion that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is healthy.
Instead, Paul, who is also a doctor, believes McConnell has a neurological issue.
“You know I’ve practiced medicine for over 20 years, I’ve seen people who are dehydrated. What’s occurring, from what I’ve seen, is a neurological event, it’s not dehydration,” Paul said, according to Politico.
“I think my advice would be to be more forthcoming with what’s going on.”
McConnell has had several health scares, the latest being when he froze while speaking.
The physician of Congress, U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Brian Monahan, wrote in a note that there is no evidence that “you have a seizure disorder or that you experienced a stroke, TIA or movement disorder such as Parkinson’s disease,” referring to McConnell.
Monahan noted that “[o]ccasional lightheadedness is not uncommon in concussion recovery and can also be expected as a result of dehydration.”
Reporting from The Daily Signal:
The average age in the United States Senate is approximately 65 years old, according to Pew Research Center. “Severe aging health issues and/or mental health incompetence in our nation’s leaders MUST be addressed,” Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia wrote on Twitter, now known as X, following McConnell’s latest freeze. “[Joe] Biden, McConnell, [Dianne] Feinstein, and [John] Fetterman are examples of people who are not fit for office.”
