Demonstrators began blocking the road at around 1:15 pm.
The Washington State Department of Transportation shared updates on the situation on X, advising drivers to use alternative routes.
Activists left their vehicles on the road after being told to leave, requiring authorities to tow the cars.
The road was cleared after 6 pm.
ALL CLEAR: Busy day for the Washington State Dept. of Transportation. Tow trucks had to remove 11 vehicles from I-5 near Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. Last month, American Faith reported that Seattle law enforcement was told to allow a pro-Palestine demonstration to take place on a bridge during rush hour traffic.
More than 100 pro-Palestine activists protested on University Bridge, calling for a “ceasefire in Gaza.”
The bridge was closed for more than three hours.
