Poll Finds 47% Of Americans Likely Wouldn’t Purchase an EV

A poll from the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research and the Energy Policy Institute found that 47% of Americans do not believe they will purchase an elective vehicle (EV) in the future.

22% of poll respondents said it is somewhat likely that they will purchase an electric car.

19% said it is “extremely” likely that they will purchase an EV.

Reporting from The Hill:

Consumers are eligible for a tax credit of up to $7,500 for new EV purchases, but 6 in 10 respondents still cited the high cost of electric vehicles as a “major” reason they wouldn’t buy one. Roughly half of respondents said “too few charging stations” was a major reason.
