Police Investigating Theft of Humvees and Military Gear from Southern California Army Reserve Center

Authorities are investigating the theft of three Humvees, including an armored vehicle, along with a significant amount of military equipment from the Army Reserve Center in Tustin, California.

The Tustin Police Department reported that unknown suspects broke into the storage warehouse between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on January 8. During the break-in, locks on multiple storage lockers were removed, leading to the theft of equipment.

According to police, the suspects unsuccessfully attempted to cut a lock on a uniform storage unit but managed to access the military vehicle parking lot by cutting another lock. Three Humvees were stolen, including one armored model identified as M1151A1 (ADMIN: HHC-06), and two M1097 models with cloth doors (ADMIN: HQ-61 and HQ-81).

Other items reported missing include:

  • 8 machine gun vehicle mounts
  • 7 free-standing machine gun tripods
  • Medical equipment
  • 40 pairs of binoculars
  • 18 bayonets

The Army has confirmed that no weapons or ammunition were taken, aside from the listed equipment.

Police are continuing their investigation and have not yet identified any suspects. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Tustin Police Department immediately.

In August 2024, the Taliban held a military parade in Afghanistan, showcasing U.S. military equipment left behind following the withdrawal of American forces in August 2021.

Taliban members and leaders celebrated their return to power thanks to the Biden Administration’s poorly planned withdrawal from the region.

The parade, which took place at Bagram Airfield, once a major U.S. military base, featured Taliban fighters marching alongside abandoned American vehicles and aircraft. Humvees, tanks, and even helicopters, all originally supplied to the Afghan government forces, were prominently displayed.
