Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will not attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Her spokesperson confirmed the matter to ABC News but did not offer an explanation.
Pelosi did attend Trump’s 2017 inauguration.
The former House Speaker was hospitalized in Luxembourg after falling down stairs, breaking her hip.
“I was right next to her,” Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) said after Pelosi’s fall. “She likes to wear high heels, very high.” He described how Pelosi lost her footing on a marble staircase that lacked a railing and fell to the ground. McCaul quickly assisted her, and they took a photo together shortly after, with him helping her up by the hand.
Pelosi has since been seen using a walker on the House floor.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama will also not be attending Trump’s inauguration. Former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush, along with their spouses, are confirmed to attend the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg will co-host a black-tie reception in Washington, D.C., to celebrate President-elect Donald Trump’s victory, American Faith reported. He did not host or co-host similar receptions for President Joe Biden’s 2021 inauguration or Trump’s 2017 ceremony. Zuckerberg also donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural fund and announced that Meta is ending its fact-checking program in the United States.
Stephen Miller, who has been appointed deputy chief of staff for Trump’s incoming administration, told Fox News in November that Zuckerberg “has been very clear about his desire to be a supporter of and a participant in this change that we’re seeing all around America, all around the world with this reform movement that Donald Trump is leading.”
While Miller noted that Zuckerberg “has his own interests,” the tech CEO has made it clear “that he wants to support the national renewal of America under President Trump’s leadership.”
