After MSNBC published an article describing the “hot mess state” of Florida and its “deplorable” governor Ron DeSantis (R), a political commentary Twitter account, The Redheaded Libertarian, shared the article.
The Redheaded Libertarian mocked the article, stating, “Governor DeSantis: you can’t sex change for your child in Florida.”
Twitter and Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to the tweet, writing, “Any parent or doctor who sterilizes a child before they are a consenting adult should go to prison for life.”

Matthew Kolken, an attorney and director of the American Immigration Lawyers Association's Board of Governors, replied to Musk's tweet, "Also note, it is a federal crime to perform, attempt to perform, or conspire to perform female genital mutilation on another person who has not attained the age of 18 years under 18 U.S. Code § 116. 'It shall not be a defense to a prosecution under this section that female genital mutilation is required as a matter of religion, custom, tradition, ritual, or standard practice.'"
