Parents Arrested After Constraining Children in Car Seats For Multiple Days

Authorities in Franklin County, Kentucky have arrested four family members after discovering two young children and several animals living in dire conditions.

Megan Edgin, 21, was taken into custody on Jan. 2, accused of leaving her two-year-old and seven-month-old children confined for several days. Reports indicate the children were strapped in a car seat and a swing, showing signs of severe malnourishment.

Deputies also found a cat and two malnourished dogs at the home on Duckers Road. One of the dogs was reportedly confined to a cage “24/7,” which was covered in feces and lacked food and water. The animal was stained with feces and urine.

“The living conditions for the animals was poor at best,” deputies stated.

Edgin faces multiple charges, including first-degree criminal abuse of a child under 12, second-degree animal cruelty, and failure to vaccinate dogs for rabies.

By Jan. 9, three additional family members, including the children’s grandparents and father, were also arrested in connection with the case.

This shocking discovery highlights the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable children and animals from neglect and abuse.
