Palm Springs Reveals Pride-Themed Patrol Car

The Palm Springs Police Department revealed a new Pride-themed patrol car to honor the city’s November Pride celebrations.

“It’s all about diversity, inclusion, and community engagement and that’s where, you know, you got a lot of people talking about it,” Lt. Gustavo Araiza told KESQ-TV. “We’ve had our officer driving this, and he’s been stopped to basically get questions about the vehicle itself. So, it’s an opportunity to connect with the community, as we show that diversity and inclusion.”

One citizen urged the police to address property crime and homelessness rather than diversity initiatives.

The individual tweeted, “How about getting the homeless off the streets and focusing on property crime?”

Palm Springs is considered to be one of the most gay-friendly areas of the United States, with an estimated 50% of the city’s population identifying as gay.
