Democrats Fear ‘Getting the Guillotine’ From Left Over Shutdown Vote

Democrats are stalling efforts to reopen the federal government because they fear retaliation from their far-left base if they vote to end the government shutdown, according to a report from The Hill.

Senate Democrats “are going to get hammered” if they back a Republican-led short-term bill to reopen the government, one anonymous Democratic senator told The Hill. The lawmaker admitted that centrist Democrats “would have opened the government yesterday” but are “terrified of getting the guillotine” from progressive activists.

The shutdown, now in its 20th day, is among the longest in U.S. history. While millions of federal employees remain unpaid, several prominent Democrats—including Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren, as well as House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries—have chosen to keep their six-figure salaries.

Only a handful of Democrats have broken ranks. Sens. John Fetterman, Catherine Cortez Masto, and independent Angus King have voiced support for reopening the government. Fetterman defended his vote, saying, “I voted yes to pay our service members. That’s service members over party. That’s not baffling to me.”

However, progressive groups have attacked even modest attempts at compromise. Indivisible’s national advocacy director Andrew O’Neill blasted one procedural vote as “GOP political theater,” accusing Democrats who supported it of joining “right in.”

As the standoff drags on, Democrats face growing pressure from both sides—publicly demanding an end to the crisis while privately fearing political retribution from the far left.

Fiscal Respaldada Por Soros Enfrenta Críticas Tras Liberar Al Sospechoso En La Muerte De Una Reina De Belleza

Vance Pide Confiar En Dios En Medio Del Alto El Fuego En Oriente Medio

Vance Urges Trust in God Amid Middle East Ceasefire

Vice President JD Vance voiced optimism about the future of the peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, urging Christians to pray for the region.

“I know that Christians have many titles for Jesus Christ, and one of them is the Prince of Peace,” Vance said at a news conference announcing the opening of a Civilian Military Cooperation Center. “And I’d ask all people of faith, in particular my fellow Christians, to pray that the Prince of Peace can continue to work a miracle in this region of the world. I think that we have made incredible strides over the past week. We’re going to have to make a lot more. But I think with your prayers, with God’s providence and with a very good team behind me, I think we’re gonna get it done.”

Vance noted in his speech that if Hamas does not comply with the deal, “very bad things are going to happen.”

“But I’m not going to do what the President of the United States has thus far refused to do, which is put an explicit deadline on it, because a lot of this stuff is difficult. A lot of this stuff is unpredictable,” the vice president explained, going on to explain that peacemaking must be “flexible.”

Elsewhere in his message, Vance criticized media groups for spreading fear of the peace agreement’s setbacks.

“I want to say that there is this weird attitude I’ve sensed in the American media and the Western media, where there’s almost this desire to root for failure — that every time something bad happens, and every time there’s an act of violence, there’s this inclination to say, ‘Oh, this is the end of the ceasefire, this is the end of the peace plan,’” he stated. “It’s not the end. It is, in fact, exactly how this is going to have to happen when you have people who hate each other, who have been fighting against each other for a very long time. We are doing very well. We are in a very good place.”

UCSD Ends Black-Only Scholarship After Ku Klux Klan Act Challenge

The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) has ended its race-exclusive scholarship after a lawsuit challenged it under the Ku Klux Klan Act, marking a major legal victory for equal treatment in education.

The university’s Black Alumni Scholarship Fund—once limited to black students—was quietly renamed the Goins Alumni Scholarship Fund and opened to students of all races after the Pacific Legal Foundation (PLF) sued UCSD in July. The lawsuit alleged the school violated the Ku Klux Klan Act, a 19th-century law that forbids conspiracies to deprive citizens of their civil rights.

“This victory proves that the Constitution’s promise of equality before the law still has teeth,” said Jack Brown, an attorney for PLF. “The Ku Klux Klan Act was written to stop government actors from conspiring with private parties to discriminate—and that’s exactly what happened here. When faced with the law, UC San Diego had no choice but to retreat.”

Rather than risk defeat in court, UCSD dropped its race-based eligibility rule after transferring the program to a private nonprofit in an attempt to skirt California’s ban on racial preferences. PLF withdrew its lawsuit on Monday after confirming the changes.

Legal experts say this outcome could set a national precedent. “In principle, [the Ku Klux Klan Act] could apply to any racial discrimination by a nonprofit that is so intertwined with a university that it essentially serves a government function,” said PLF attorney Haley Dutch.

Hamas Ceasefire Violations: Terror Group Rebuilds Bases in Gaza Hospitals

Hamas terrorists are once again committing ceasefire violations, rebuilding command centers inside Gaza hospitals and schools and interrogating Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel, according to Palestinian media.

“Hamas’s internal security forces have begun summoning opponents from schools, tents, and hospitals controlled by Hamas members for interrogation,” reported Al-Hayat al-Jadida, the Palestinian Authority’s official Arabic outlet. The report signals a return to Hamas’s long-standing strategy of using civilian infrastructure as shields for its terror operations.

“Hamas is working to restore its pre-war status, and its reoccupation of hospitals and other civilian sites fit that pattern,” said Joe Truzman of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. “The IDF is unlikely to move against Hamas since Israel’s leadership is determined to avoid actions that could unravel the ceasefire.”

President Donald Trump condemned the group’s renewed aggression, warning Hamas that continued attacks could trigger U.S.-backed intervention. “This is a very violent group of people, and they got very rambunctious, and they did things that they shouldn’t be doing,” Trump said Monday. “If they keep doing it, then we’re going to go in and straighten it out… we are going to eradicate Hamas.”

Hamas has also begun targeting humanitarian aid operations, “summoning employees in the international development and aid agencies in order to obtain information about the amounts [of aid] and distribution methods,” according to Palestinian reports.

Analysts say Israel’s hands are tied under the ceasefire agreement, giving Hamas room to reestablish power and exploit civilians.

‘Safe Third Country’ Win: Trump Secures Asylum Victory

The Trump administration reached an agreement with Belize, where the country will take asylum seekers.

According to a Monday announcement from the Government of Belize, the agreement “reinforces Belize’s commitment to international law and humanitarian principles while ensuring strong national safeguards.”

“Belize retains an absolute veto over transfers, with restrictions on nationalities, a cap on transferees, and comprehensive security screenings. No person who is deemed to be a threat to the public safety or national security will be allowed to enter or stay in Belize,” the government’s statement read. “Additionally, the United States may also provide, upon request, financial and technical assistance to enhance Belize’s migration and asylum management system.”

“The signing reaffirms Belize’s commitment as a responsible and cooperative member of the international community, upholding its humanitarian values while maintaining strong protection of our national security and sovereignty,” the country declared.

The State Department’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs confirmed the agreement in a social media statement: “Thank you to the Government of Belize for signing a Safe Third Country Agreement – an important milestone in ending illegal immigration, shutting down abuse of our nation’s asylum system, and reinforcing our shared commitment to tackling challenges in our hemisphere together.”

Belize House of Representatives member Tracy Panton condemned the deal, stating it is a “matter of deep national concern.”

“While Belize must continue to play its part in promoting regional cooperation on migration and humanitarian issues, the reality is that our nation lacks the institutional capacity, financial resources, and technical systems to effectively manage the complex responsibilities that such an agreement would entail,” said Panton.

Tylenol Criticizes Calls for Label Shifts

Tylenol manufacturer Kenvue Brands LLC sent a letter to the Food and Drug Administration, criticizing demands that the drug’s label be changed to reflect greater safety warnings.

“The Citizen Petition requests changes to the labeling of over-the-counter (‘OTC’) acetaminophen products for use during pregnancy that are unsupported by the scientific evidence and legally and procedurally improper—including requesting that the consumer-facing warning address a risk of acetaminophen use and neurodevelopmental disorders even though the overwhelming weight of the evidence contradicts the existence of any such risk,” the company’s letter to the FDA says.

In September, the FDA announced that it initiated the process of changing the labeling for Tylenol in light of President Trump’s announcement that acetaminophen is linked to autism development when used during pregnancy.

A letter was also sent to physicians nationwide to inform them of the accumulation of evidence “suggesting that the use of acetaminophen by pregnant women may be associated with an increased risk of neurological conditions such as autism and ADHD in children.”

“Some studies have described that the risk may be most pronounced when acetaminophen is taken chronically throughout pregnancy to childbirth,” FDA Commissioner Marty Makary wrote. “These concerns may be magnified by the fact that a very young child’s liver may still be developing and thus a child’s ability to metabolize the drug may be limited.”

The letter noted that while there are “contrary studies in the scientific literature,” clinicians should still “consider minimizing the use of acetaminophen during pregnancy for routine low-grade fevers.”

European Leaders Endorse Trump’s Ukraine Stance

A group of European leaders endorsed President Trump’s ceasefire idea for the Russia-Ukraine war, stating that they are “united in our desire for a just and lasting peace.”

The joint statement, issued by leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Ukraine, and the European Union, declares that they “strongly support” President Trump’s stance that the conflict end.

“Russia’s stalling tactics have shown time and time again that Ukraine is the only party serious about peace. We can all see that Putin continues to choose violence and destruction,” the statement reads. “Therefore we are clear that Ukraine must be in the strongest possible position – before, during, and after any ceasefire. We must ramp up the pressure on Russia’s economy and its defence industry, until Putin is ready to make peace. We are developing measures to use the full value of Russia’s immobilised sovereign assets so that Ukraine has the resources it needs.”

A meeting on the matter is scheduled for October 23.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, President Trump said, “Let it be cut the way it is. It’s cut up right now. I think 78% of the land is already taken by Russia. You leave it the way it is right now.”

“They can negotiate something later on down the line. But I said cut and stop at the battle line,” he said. “Go home. Stop fighting, stop killing people.”

Last week, Trump met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, sharing on Truth Social that he “told him, as I likewise strongly suggested to President Putin, that it is time to stop the killing, and make a DEAL!”

Texas Flags Thousands of Illegals on Voter Rolls

Texas discovered thousands of illegal immigrants on their voter rolls, the Texas Secretary of State announced.

Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson said that after comparing the state’s voter registration list with citizenship data, it was discovered that 2,724 potential noncitizens are registered to vote in the state.

“Only eligible United States citizens may participate in our elections,” Nelson stated. “The Trump Administration’s decision to give states free and direct access to this data set for the first time has been a game changer, and we appreciate the partnership with the federal government to verify the citizenship of those on our voter rolls and maintain accurate voter lists.”

Nelson explained that the “right to vote is sacred and must be protected.”

The discovery was made after an examination of the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database, which allows authorities to input Social Security numbers to confirm citizenship and prevent illegal immigrants from voting in U.S. elections.

After the database was updated in May, Homeland Security said the changes “eliminates fees for database searches, breaks down silos for accurate results, streamlines mass status checks, and integrates criminal records, immigration timelines, and addresses.”

In July, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton launched a major investigation into noncitizen voting in the 2020 and 2022 election cycles. The investigation expanded upon one Paxton launched in June after 33 purported noncitizens participated in the 2024 General Election.

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon has also announced a sweeping effort to uphold federal voting laws.

The Trump DOJ pledged to ensure that each state has clean voter rolls and will challenge efforts that aim to suppress election integrity. “We are attacking illegal race-based gerrymandering, and we are protecting ballot access for all Americans,” Dhillon said in August.
