Food Alliance Seeks to Federalize Food Standards

Major food and beverage companies have joined together to launch a new coalition calling for national standards on food ingredients and labeling.

The coalition, called Americans for Ingredient Transparency (AFIT), is intended to limit what it calls the “ever-expanding patchwork of disjointed” regulations that increase confusion in health policies rather than “providing Americans with the clarity they deserve.” The group is backed by the Consumer Brands Association, American Beverage Association, Corn Refiners Association, and the Food Industry Association, according to Fox News.

Julie Gunlock, a policy advocate on food and nutrition and the coalition’s leader, said in a statement, “As an American, but most importantly a mom, I know firsthand how important it is to trust the products we consume and bring into our homes. Families deserve commonsense and science-backed transparency they can rely on.”

“That’s why a national standard for food safety and labeling is of the utmost importance to ensure every parent can make safe, informed choices for their children – because protecting our families starts with the truth,” she said.

The group’s formation comes as several states have different standards for labeling products and health items.

In Texas, SB 25 requires warning labels to be placed on popular snack items. The label is to read: “WARNING: This product contains an ingredient that is not recommended for human consumption by the appropriate authority in Australia, Canada, the European Union, or the United Kingdom.”

Similarly, Oklahoma launched a “Make Oklahoma Healthy Again” campaign to combat water fluoridation and artificial food dyes, while West Virginia banned synthetic dyes in foods. The bill, HB 2354, prohibits the “sale of any food product in the state that includes the dyes Red 3, Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2 and Green 3.”

Hamas-Al Jazeera Collusion Exposed in New Intelligence Files

Newly recovered intelligence reveals that Hamas-Al Jazeera cooperation went far beyond sympathetic coverage—showing direct coordination between the Qatari-funded network and the terrorist group to manipulate news coming out of Gaza. According to documents released by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, Hamas conspired with Al Jazeera to suppress stories that might damage “the image of the resistance.”

The documents show Hamas instructed Al Jazeera to avoid using the word “massacre” when reporting on a Palestinian Islamic Jihad missile strike in Jabalia that hit a refugee camp. Al Jazeera’s “newsroom management” agreed to comply. Hamas also sought to create a direct line to Al Jazeera’s Doha office “to promote coverage in emergency situations and allow Hamas’s military wing to send real-time instructions on what to broadcast and what to embargo,” the Jerusalem Post reported.

For years, Al Jazeera has echoed Hamas’s preferred terminology, describing active terrorists as “resistance fighters” and the dead as “shaheeds,” or “martyrs who died for Allah.” The network has even referred to Israeli hostages as “prisoners.”

Hamas granted Al Jazeera rare access to its terror tunnels, where the network filmed footage of operatives preparing explosives. Following Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, massacre, Al Jazeera documented terrorists rigging tunnels with booby traps.

While Qatar has faced U.S. pressure under President Donald Trump to reduce the network’s “incitement,” the close Hamas-Al Jazeera relationship continues to raise serious questions about propaganda masquerading as journalism.

Obama Joins Democrat Governors Attacking GOP

Former President Barack Obama will appear alongside Democrats Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill, seeking to boost their gubernatorial campaigns for Virginia and New Jersey.

Obama released two ads in support of Spanberger, claiming that the Democrat’s economic and abortion policies match voters’ desires. In one ad, Obama claims “Republican policies are raising costs on working families so billionaires can get massive tax cuts,” while he asserts in a separate ad that Democrats “know Republicans will keep attacking abortion rights and the rights of women.”

Similarly, Sherrill announced that Obama will join her on the campaign trail in November, The Hill reports.

“President Obama reminds us what we can accomplish when we leaders are unafraid to take on big challenges to deliver. He led historic efforts to insure millions of Americans and lower healthcare costs. The contrast couldn’t be clearer,” she said in a statement.

As with Spanberger, Obama appeared in an ad to support Sherrill. “Hey New Jersey. This is Barack Obama. And I want to talk to you about my friend, Mikie Sherrill,” he says in the ad. “Mikie is a mom who will drive down costs for New Jersey families. As a federal prosecutor, and former Navy helicopter pilot, she worked to keep our communities safe.”

Obama also made an ad on behalf of Governor Gavin Newsom, urging Californians to vote on a proposition that would likely eliminate several Republican-majority congressional districts. “California, the whole nation is counting on you. Democracy is on the ballot November 4. Republicans want to steal enough seats in Congress to rig the next election and wield unchecked power for two more years,” Obama said in the video. “With Prop 50, you can stop Republicans in their tracks. Prop 50 puts our elections back on a level playing field, which preserves Independent Redistricting over the long term, and lets the people decide. Return your ballot today. Vote yes on 50.”

Photos of disgraced financier Howard Rubin’s Midtown “sex dungeon” penthouse have emerged for the first time, as multiple accusers claim he kept a disturbing “victim wall” of women he allegedly brutalized.

Four of Rubin’s accusers told The Post that the former Wall Street power player — once a top trader for George Soros — lured them to his luxury Manhattan apartment under the guise of paid photo shoots before turning violent. Prosecutors say the multimillionaire ran a $1 million sex-trafficking and torture ring from the penthouse between 2009 and 2019.

The women, who spoke anonymously, said Rubin displayed framed photos of Playboy models across the apartment — “trophies” of women he claimed had “been there before.” Once inside, victims were forced to sign non-disclosure agreements threatening $500,000 penalties for speaking out.

According to prosecutors, Rubin’s so-called “red room” contained devices used to tie up, electrocute, and beat women, some of whom lost consciousness during assaults. Text messages allegedly show Rubin boasting to accomplices about the abuse and coordinating with his assistant Jennifer Powers, who is accused of recruiting victims.

Rubin’s ex-wife, Mary Henry, recently described him as a “family man” in a court letter supporting his $50 million bail — sparking outrage among victims. Prosecutors argued against his release, citing evidence he once sought a hitman to target women who sued him.

Now jailed at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, Rubin has pleaded not guilty to federal sex trafficking charges. Powers, who has also pleaded not guilty, remains free on an $850,000 bond.

“This isn’t just about one man,” one victim said. “It’s about a system that let him keep hurting women for years.”

Luigi Mangione’s Previous Thailand Escapades Revealed Before UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooting

New details have emerged about Luigi Mangione’s Thailand escapades months before he allegedly murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan, shedding light on the accused killer’s troubling behavior abroad.

According to The New York Times, Mangione, 27, allegedly bragged to friends on WhatsApp about a series of reckless adventures during a backpacking trip through Asia before his return to the U.S. In one message, he claimed he had been beaten up by seven “ladyboys” — a colloquial term for transgender women — while partying in Thailand. The outlet reported that Mangione even shared a photo of his injured arm following the encounter.

The University of Pennsylvania graduate is accused of gunning down Thompson outside UnitedHealthcare’s annual investor conference in Midtown Manhattan in December 2024. Federal prosecutors have charged Mangione with premeditated murder and announced their intent to seek the death penalty.

Authorities say Mangione’s alleged killing of Thompson sparked a disturbing wave of online supporters who viewed the attack as revenge against corporate health care, prompting widespread condemnation.

While Mangione’s defense team has not commented on the reported Thailand messages, prosecutors say the new revelations underscore his volatile and erratic behavior in the months leading up to the high-profile assassination.

The Department of Justice has not provided additional details on Mangione’s alleged motives, but officials describe the case as one of the most brazen corporate-targeted killings in recent memory.

DOJ Slams Judge’s Ruling on Mahmoud Khalil Removal as ‘Indefensible’ in Appeal

The Justice Department is urging a federal appeals court to overturn a lower court ruling that blocked activist Mahmoud Khalil’s deportation, calling the decision “fundamentally flawed.” The Biden-appointed judge’s injunction halted the Mahmoud Khalil removal, prompting the DOJ to accuse him of overstepping his authority.

During Tuesday’s hearing before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit, DOJ attorney Drew Ensign argued that the New Jersey district court lacked jurisdiction over Khalil’s case. “Habeas is the path the petitioner has chosen, and the district court indulged that unlawful detour by issuing an indefensible injunction,” Ensign told the panel. “This court should reverse.”

Khalil, a Columbia University graduate and self-styled pro-Palestinian activist, has been fighting to remain in the U.S. since March, when immigration officials determined his public advocacy violated federal law and posed a national security concern. He was deemed removable by an immigration judge under the Trump administration after allegedly expressing sympathy for Hamas.

In June, Judge Michael Farbiarz ruled that Khalil’s First Amendment rights were violated and ordered his release on bail, blocking his deportation. The judge later intervened again after a new immigration finding accused Khalil of fabricating information on his green card application.

Ensign told the court that Khalil’s legal team was trying to “circumvent the carefully designed and articulated scheme that Congress has created for judicial review.” One appellate judge questioned whether Khalil’s attorneys had any choice, noting their client had been moved between several detention facilities in multiple states.

The appellate court has not indicated when it will rule on the removal appeal.

Fashion Faux Pas? Texas Drunk Driver Blames Designer Shoes for Deadly Crash

A Texas drunk driver accused of killing a man on his first date is claiming her designer heels, not alcohol, caused the deadly wreck. Prosecutors say 34-year-old Kristina Chambers was driving four times over the legal limit when she struck and killed 33-year-old Joseph McMullin outside a Houston Voodoo Doughnut shop in April 2023.

According to court documents cited by the New York Post, Chambers had spent the night bar-hopping before getting behind the wheel of her blue Porsche. Authorities also found small baggies of cocaine in her car and purse, the Houston Chronicle reported.

As Chambers’ trial began Friday, defense attorney Mark Thiessen argued that her high-end Christian Louboutin heels got stuck on the gas pedal as she navigated “one of Houston’s most dangerous curves.” Prosecutor Andrew Figliuzzi pushed back, saying Chambers was “itching to show off her sports car” when the crash occurred.

Witness Briana Iturrino, who was on a date with McMullin, told jurors that Chambers’ Porsche “sped past the couple” before slamming into a pole. “I thought he had gotten out of the way,” she said. “Because I couldn’t find him.” McMullin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witness Alfredo Ponce testified that Chambers’ vehicle “smelled of alcohol” as he helped her and two passengers from the wreck.

Chambers has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and also faces a $1 million wrongful death lawsuit filed by McMullin’s family. The civil suit partly blames Chambers’ ex-husband, hedge fund manager Xuan Si, for buying the Porsche months before the crash.

Newsom Deploys National Guard for ‘Humanitarian Mission’

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) announced that he will deploy the California National Guard and California Volunteers for what his office described as a “humanitarian mission.”

The mission will support food banks as the ongoing government shutdown has delayed food benefits.

Discussing the purpose of the California National Guard’s deployment, Newsom’s office emphasized that the guardsmen “will not be acting as law enforcement.” Instead, the office noted, service members “regularly provide support to state civilian authorities, including for Governor-directed missions to support wildfire preparedness and response, tackle deadly drug trafficking, and surge medical capacity during the global COVID-19 pandemic.”

Blaming President Trump for the shutdown, Newsom claimed, “Trump’s failure isn’t abstract – it’s literally taking food out of people’s mouths. This is serious, this is urgent – and requires immediate action. Millions of Americans rely on food benefits to feed their families, and while Republicans in Washington drag their feet, California is stepping up once again to fill in the gaps.”

Newsom is further releasing upwards of $80 million in state funding.

“I’m expediting state funds for food banks and directing the California National Guard and California Volunteers to help distribute this food to families,” he said. “As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, California is working to ensure CalFresh recipients don’t go hungry while food prices are spiking under President Trump.”

The Democratic governor’s deployment of the National Guard stands in contrast with deployments made by the Trump administration. Newsom vowed to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration if the president were to send troops to San Francisco.

“The notion that the federal government can deploy troops into our cities with no justification grounded in reality, no oversight, no accountability, no respect for state sovereignty — it’s a direct assault on the rule of law,” Newsom said. “We’re drawing a line: California will always defend the Constitution, our people, and our values from authoritarian  overreach.”

Texas Couple Arrested After Body of Special Needs Son Found Buried in Backyard

A Texas couple arrested in connection with the death of their 26-year-old special needs son is facing serious charges after police discovered his body buried behind their Burleson home.

Authorities say the remains of Jonathan Kinman were uncovered during a welfare check at 433 White Oak Lane after family friends grew concerned over conflicting posts on social media. Burleson Police said Kinman’s mother, December Mitchell, and stepfather, Jonathan Mitchell, were charged with tampering with and fabricating physical evidence to impair a human corpse, a second-degree felony. Both are being held on $250,000 bond.

Deputy Police Chief Doug Sandifer said the investigation began when a friend reported a troubling Facebook post from the couple mourning Kinman’s death. “The first information was she said he was taken to Hugeley Hospital and pronounced there,” Sandifer said. “We followed up with that and that was not correct. The conflicting information definitely led us to believe that something was not as it should be.”

Police returned the following day with the Texas Rangers and found a shallow grave in the backyard. Kinman’s body was exhumed and transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy was conducted. Officials say the cause of death remains undetermined pending final results.

Authorities have not ruled out additional charges against the couple, as investigators work to establish when and how Kinman died.

NYC ICE Chinatown Raid Devolves into Chaos as Protesters Clash with Agents

The ICE Chinatown raid in New York City erupted into chaos Friday as protesters clashed with federal agents targeting street vendors accused of selling counterfeit goods. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the enforcement action on Canal Street was “targeted” and “intelligence-driven,” aimed at criminal activity linked to the counterfeit trade.

“During this law enforcement operation, rioters who were shouting obscenities became violent and obstructed law enforcement duties, including blocking vehicles and assaulting law enforcement,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Already, one rioter has been arrested for assault on a federal officer.”

Local officials, however, quickly distanced themselves from the raid. Mayor Eric Adams’ press secretary, Kayla Mamelak Altus, said the city “never cooperates with federal law enforcement on civil deportation matters” and “had no involvement in this matter.” She added that the mayor believes “undocumented New Yorkers trying to pursue the American Dream should not be the target of law enforcement.”

Public Advocate Jumaane Williams criticized the operation, claiming agents were “armed and in tactical gear for vendors” and accused them of “targeting… Black vendors on Canal Street.” Socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani blasted the raid as “aggressive and reckless,” while City Comptroller Brad Lander said, “Street vendors are not a national security threat.”

DHS officials maintain the raid was lawful and focused on criminal activity, not immigration status. “Any illegal activity should be addressed,” one federal source said, emphasizing that those who obstructed officers would face charges.
