Pentagon Demands ‘Proper Military Appearance’ for Service Members

The Pentagon unveiled new grooming standards to maintain respect and “proper military appearance.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s memo directed service members to be “clean shaven and neat in presentation for a proper military appearance.”

“As I stated when directing the Rapid Force-Wide Review of Military Standards, the strength of the military is our unity and our shared purpose,” Hegseth wrote in the guidance. “The Department must remain vigilant in maintaining the grooming standards which underpin the warrior ethos.”

“Commanders must apply consistent criteria and appropriately consider the Department’s interests in safety and uniformity when authorizing individual exceptions,” Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said in a statement. “Military medical officers will provide a written recommendation concerning a shaving waiver to the commander who is the final approval authority. Service members with an approved shaving waiver will participate in a medical treatment plan. Unit commanders will initiate separation of Service members who require a shaving waiver after more than one year of medical treatment.”

President Trump recently restored the name “Department of War” to the Department of Defense.

“We’ve been talking about this ‘Department of War,’” Trump said. “So, we won the First World War. We won the Second World War. We won everything before that and in between — and then we decided to go woke and we changed the name to Department of Defense. So, we’re going ‘Department of War.’”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said prior to the order’s signing that the nation is “going to go on offense, not just on defense,” explaining, “Maximum lethality, not tepid legality. Violent effect, not politically correct. We’re going to raise up warriors, not just defenders. So this war department, Mr. President, just like America, is back.”

GOP Aims to Avoid Govt Shutdown

House Republicans have released a plan to avoid a government shutdown. The stopgap bill would fund the government through November 21 and increases security for public officials.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said the “short-term, clean continuing resolution” will “keep the government funded and operating at current levels while we continue all this work and doing our jobs and getting the remaining bills done.”

“This will not be a partisan CR, it’ll be a clean, short-term continuing resolution, end of story,” he reiterated. “And it’s interesting to me that some of the same Democrats who decried government shutdowns under President Biden appear to have no heartache whatsoever at walking our nation off that cliff right now. I hope they don’t. I hope that they’ll work with us so we can all do our jobs here. We get a short-term CR done, complete the appropriations bill, and get back to the regular order that we have all seen as necessary so we can be good stewards of taxpayers’ funds.”

President Trump weighed in on the bill’s development. “Congressional Republicans, including Leader John Thune and Speaker Mike Johnson, are working on a short term ‘CLEAN’ extension of Government Funding to stop Cryin’ Chuck Schumer from shutting down the Government,” he wrote on Truth Social.

“In times like these, Republicans have to stick TOGETHER to fight back against the Radical Left Democrat demands, and vote ‘YES!’ on both Votes needed to pass a Clean CR this week out of the House of Representatives,” Trump urged. “Democrats want the Government to shut down. Republicans want the Government to OPEN. Democrats love CRIME, Republicans make our Country SAFE — WE HATE CRIME. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT”

Fani Willis Denied Appeal in Trump Case

The Georgia Supreme Court has rejected Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s effort to prosecute President Donald Trump in an election interference case.

Former DOJ official Jeff Clark said the ruling means Willis is “permanently disqualified from prosecuting the indictment that she brought against President Trump, me, and many others.”

“The Georgia Supreme Court denied cert to Fani Willis, who was attempting to get that Court to take her case, so that she could try to get un-disqualified after the Georgia Court of Appeals threw her off the case,” he wrote on X, adding, “Praise the Lord for progress in this case. It never should have been brought in the first place.”

President Trump said of the decision, “The court just ruled she was a disaster, she was a disaster with the boyfriend, the boyfriend that she paid a million dollars for his expertise but he never did it before.”

“Now she should be prosecuted. What she did to people, forget about me, what Fani Willis did to innocent people–patriots, who love our country–what she did to them, by indicting them, destroying them, she should be put in jail,” the president told reporters. “She’s a criminal. Fani Willis is a criminal.”

In 2024, the Georgia Appeals Court ruled that Willis was disqualified from prosecuting Trump.

“After carefully considering the trial court’s findings in its order, we conclude that it erred by failing to disqualify DA Willis and her office,” the court filing read. “The remedy crafted by the trial court to prevent an ongoing appearance of impropriety did nothing to address the appearance of impropriety that existed at times when DA Willis was exercising her broad pretrial discretion about who to prosecute and what charges to bring.”

Tyson Foods will eliminate high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) from all of its domestic products by the end of the year, the company announced. Tyson will also phase out Sucralose, BHA/BHT and Titanium Dioxide.

“We continuously review and assess our product portfolio to ensure the highest quality products that meet the needs of consumers,” Donnie King, President & CEO of Tyson Foods, said in a statement. “Our decision to remove High Fructose Corn Syrup and other ingredients reflects our ongoing commitment to feeding the world like family, while preserving the taste, value and integrity that define our iconic brands.”

Earlier this year, Tyson Foods announced that it would eliminate the use of petroleum-based synthetic dyes in its products. “As a recognized leader in protein, none of the products Tyson Foods offers through our school nutrition programs include petroleum-based synthetic dyes as ingredients,” King stated at the time. “We expect that our work to eliminate the use of petroleum-based synthetic dyes in production will be completed by the end of May.”

A May report from the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission found that ultra-processed sugars, including high fructose corn syrup, is in 75% of packaged food. “This substantial intake particularly of high fructose corn syrup and other added sugars may play significant role in childhood obesity type 2 diabetes and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD 107 Alarmingly 63% of the U.S. population aged 2 and older derives more than 10% of their daily calories from added sugars,” the report said.

Other additives listed as concerns in the report included titanium dioxide, BTS, and artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, sucralose, and saccharin.

Officials announced charges for Charlie Kirk’s suspected assassin, Tyler Robinson. The 22-year-old is being charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two obstruction of justice counts, two witness tampering charges, and violent offense committed in the presence of a child.

“Count 1, aggravated murder, a capital offense for intentionally or knowingly causing the death of Charlie Kirk under circumstances that created a great risk of death to others,” said Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray. “Count 2, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, a first degree felony.”

“Count three, obstruction of justice. A second degree felony for moving and concealing the rifle used in the shooting. Count four, obstruction of justice, a third degree, a second degree felony for disposing the clothing he wore during the shooting. Count five, witness tampering, a third degree felony for directing his roommate to delete his incriminating texts,” he said. “Count 6, witness tampering, a third degree felony, for directing his roommate to stay silent if police questioned him. Count 7, commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child, a class A misdemeanor, for committing homicide knowing that children were present and may have seen or heard the murder and did so based on Charlie Kirk’s political expression.”

“I am filing a notice of intent to seek the death penalty,” he added. “I do not take this decision lightly, and it is a decision I have made independently as county attorney based solely on the available evidence and circumstances and nature of the crime.”

“The murder of Charlie Kirk is an American tragedy,” he said, as per NBC News. “Charlie Kirk was murdered while engaging in one of our most sacred and cherished American rights, the bedrock of our democratic republic, the free exchange of ideas and a search for truth, understanding and a more perfect union.”

The alleged shooter was seen on camera walking toward the campus in the early morning of September 10, wearing the same clothes later identified from the attack. Police believe he later returned to the area in a gray Dodge Challenger around 8:30 a.m., shortly before Kirk’s event.

Lawmakers Target Communist-Linked Activities Behind Riots

House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets Chairwoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) expanded their investigation into billionaire Neville Roy Singham’s activities. Singham is believed to have links to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

In a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the lawmakers urged the Treasury to assess whether federal sanctions, civil remedies, or criminal penalties are needed for the groups organized and funded by Singham.

“The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is investigating Chinese Communist Party (CCP) efforts to sow discord in the United States, and is conducting oversight over the U.S. Government’s ability and efforts under existing law to combat such efforts,” the lawmakers wrote. “Specifically, the Committee is investigating CCP influence operations that may fall within the purview of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), 22 U.S.C. § 611 et seq and other federal laws.”

“It is imperative that we expeditiously halt the continued flow of funds and material support for malign activities conducted at the behest of the CCP,” the letter added, explaining that reports suggest that Singham “may have acted as an agent for the CCP.”

“In addition to potential criminal liability for failing to register as a foreign agent under FARA these reported activities and the entities controlled by and funded by Mr. Singham raise the question of whether his assets and/or the assets of entities he controls or funds are subject to sanctions administered or enforced by Treasury and its components,” Comer and Luna wrote. “We therefore request that the Treasury immediately undertake a formal evaluation to determine the applicability of any relevant sanctions and any other civil remedies or criminal penalties for Mr. Singham’s assets, and the assets of entities he controls or funds, including whether to freeze or seize such assets.”

Singham has been linked to the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), a group connected to the Los Angeles riots.

Luna said in a statement on X, “Neville Singham has spent millions funding militant organizations that have orchestrated violent riots and launched targeted hate campaigns against Americans with different beliefs.” She declared that she and Comer “will no longer allow billionaires to bankroll anti-American political movements on behalf of foreign governments.”

Texas Teachers Suspended After Celebrating Assassination

Texas’s Commissioner of Education, Mike Morath, issued a warning to state educators who have shared content relating to the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

In a letter addressed to superintendents, Morath wrote, “[The Texas Education Agency] has been made aware of some Texas public school educators that have posed and/or shared reprehensible and inappropriate content on social media related to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.” Morath noted that the sentiments are not reflecting of the majority of Texas teachers.

“While the exercise of free speech is a fundamental right we are all blessed to share, it does not give carte blanche authority to celebrate or sow violence against those that share differing beliefs and perspectives,” he explained, noting that Kirk’s death is “heartbreaking.”

Since the letter was sent out, more than 100 educators will have their teacher certification suspended.

“While all educators are held to a high standard of professionalism, there is a difference between comments made in poor taste and those that call for and incite further violence – the latter of which is clearly unacceptable,” Morath said. “TEA’s Educator Investigations Division has already begun its review, and I will be recommending to the State Board for Educator Certification that such individuals have their certification suspended and be rendered ineligible to teach in a Texas public school.”

Florida Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas sent a similar letter to the state’s school district superintendents, warning them that they must maintain professional conduct or face repercussions. Kamoutsas’ letter condemned Florida educators who have “posted despicable comments on social media” regarding Kirk’s death, and declared that he will conduct investigations into “every educator who engages in this vile, sanctionable behavior.”

Gov. Lombardo Says the ‘Nevada Way’ is at Risk in 2026 Re-Election Race

Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo officially launched his 2026 re-election campaign on Monday, warning voters that the “Nevada Way” is on the line if Democrats retake the governor’s office.

Lombardo, who defied the odds in 2022 as the only Republican to defeat an incumbent governor, framed his campaign as a defense against what he called the “woke, California agenda.” Speaking at Rancho High School in North Las Vegas, the governor declared, “I’ll continue to do everything in my power to stop Gavin Newsom from imposing his left-wing agenda on Nevada. As long as I’m your governor, I won’t ever accept Californians telling Nevadans what to do or making us pay the price for their bad ideas.”

Since taking office, Lombardo has cut more than 600 regulations, overseen 4% annual job growth that ranks Nevada sixth in the nation, and signed into law the largest education investment in state history. His administration also expanded school choice, secured a double-digit raise for law enforcement, and allocated $130 million toward middle-class housing.

Republicans hailed his record. “Nobody fights harder for the Nevada Way than Gov. Joe Lombardo,” Republican Governors Association communications director Courtney Alexander said, pointing to his achievements in business, education, and public safety.

Democrats, however, argue Lombardo remains vulnerable. The Democratic Governors Association labeled him “the most vulnerable Republican governor in America” and Nevada Democrats tied him to President Trump, accusing him of “embrace of Trump’s reckless policies.”

Trump Deploys Federal Task Force to Save Memphis

President Donald Trump launched the “Memphis Safe Task Force” to restore law and order in the Tennessee city.

“The city of Memphis, Tennessee, is suffering from tremendous levels of violent crime that have overwhelmed its local government’s ability to respond effectively,” Trump’s order says. “This situation has become dire in one of our Nation’s most historic cities. According to data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Memphis in 2024 had the highest rate of violent crime per capita, including some of the highest per capita rates of murder, robbery, and aggravated assault, and property crimes such as burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft, in the country.”

“The city, a beacon of American culture that was Elvis’s home and is often called the birthplace of rock and roll and the blues, should be safe and secure for all of its citizens and Americans who visit its historic landmarks such as Graceland, Beale Street, and the Memphis Pyramid,” the order states. “To restore public safety and order, State and local leaders have requested Federal assistance, and I will act quickly to ensure that Federal authorities assist Memphis law enforcement to the fullest possible extent.”

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee (R) celebrated the task force’s creation. “Memphis is a remarkable community with great cultural significance that includes top global business and strong faith leaders, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to move this city forward,” said Lee. “We’ve made significant investments to address crime throughout my seven years in office, and thanks to President Trump’s leadership, the Memphis Safe Task Force will ensure we have every resource at our disposal to create significant change.”

Trump Files $15 Billion Lawsuit Against New York Times

President Donald Trump announced a $15 billion lawsuit against The New York Times, accusing the paper of defamation, libel, and acting as a “mouthpiece” for Democrats during the 2024 election cycle.

The lawsuit, filed in Florida, argues that the Times’ endorsement of Kamala Harris amounted to an illegal “campaign contribution.” In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote, “Today, I have the Great Honor of bringing a $15 Billion Dollar Defamation and Libel Lawsuit against The New York Times, one of the worst and most degenerate newspapers in the History of our Country, becoming a virtual ‘mouthpiece’ for the Radical Left Democrat Party.”

The 85-page filing names the New York Times Company, four of its reporters, and Penguin Random House as defendants. Trump’s lawyers argue the outlet engaged in “persistent election interference from the legacy media” and cited the Times’ publication of Lucky Loser, a book critical of his business record, as part of the alleged smear campaign.

The Times dismissed the lawsuit as meritless. A spokesperson said, “It lacks any legitimate legal claims and instead is an attempt to stifle and discourage independent reporting. The New York Times will not be deterred by intimidation tactics.”

This latest lawsuit follows Trump’s multimillion-dollar settlements with ABC News and CBS News in similar defamation cases. Both networks agreed to payouts after airing disputed reports, with ABC settling for $15 million last December and CBS parent company Paramount paying upwards of $30 million in July.
