Giorgia Meloni Death Threat at Turin Station

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has responded defiantly after anti-Israel activists scrawled a death threat comparing her to assassinated American activist Charlie Kirk during an occupation of Turin’s Porta Susa railway station.

The graffiti, which read “Meloni: Come Kirk” (“Meloni: Like Kirk”), was daubed on the station walls as Antifa and other far-left groups staged a disruptive sit-in, blocking platforms and halting train traffic for hours. The reference to Kirk’s assassination in the United States is being treated as a serious threat by Italian police, who have launched an investigation, according to Corriere Torino.

Meloni dismissed the implied threat, saying she took “pride” in being compared to Kirk, whom she described as a symbol of courage and free speech.

“They wrote it as a threat. But those who live on hatred and intimidation will never be like Charlie Kirk, because they do not know the value of dialogue, confrontation, and democracy,” Meloni declared.
“Those who promise violence will always remain prisoners of violence. We will continue to walk free, strong in our ideas.”

Italy has a turbulent history of political violence, particularly during the “Years of Lead” in the 1970s and 80s, making the threat especially alarming in the country’s political context.

Regional leaders condemned the graffiti and unrest in Turin. Alberto Cirio, President of Piedmont, extended solidarity to Meloni, stating:

“The blockades in Turin, the damage, and the threats against Prime Minister Meloni are unacceptable. Everyone is free to peacefully express their opinions, but this can never go beyond respect for the rules and the law.”

His deputy added that invoking the murder of a political opponent amounted to barbarism:

“Calling for the death of a political opponent is not dissent: it is an insult to millions of citizens who believe in freedom and democracy.”

The Turin protest was part of a broader “general strike” declared by far-left groups against Meloni’s refusal to recognize a Palestinian state, aligning Italy with nations such as the United States rather than the UK, France, and Spain.

Earlier in the week, similar protests in Milan turned violent, with more than 60 police officers injured as Antifa radicals rioted, stormed rail stations, and clashed with law enforcement. Demonstrators chanted “it will be Intifada here too,” while politicians warned that extremists were hijacking public sympathy for Gaza to justify violence.

The unrest has underlined growing tensions in Italy, as radical groups escalate their campaign against Meloni’s government under the banner of solidarity with Palestine.

Trump Hopes Others Indicted After Comey

President Donald Trump said Friday he hopes former FBI Director James Comey is not the last official indicted over what he described as the “weaponization” of the Justice Department. His comments came one day after Comey was charged with making false statements and obstruction of justice.

Speaking with reporters on the South Lawn of the White House before leaving for the Ryder Cup in New York, Trump was joined by his granddaughter, Kai Trump. Asked whether others might face indictments, Trump replied:

“It’s not a list, but I think there’ll be others. I mean, they’re corrupt. These were corrupt, radical left Democrats, because Comey, essentially … he’s worse than a Democrat. I would say the Democrats are better than Comey.”

Trump emphasized that his belief is rooted in how the DOJ was used under past leadership:

“They weaponized the Justice Department like nobody in history. What they’ve done is terrible, and so I hope, frankly, I hope there are others because you can’t let this happen to a country.”

Comey’s indictment centers on testimony he gave before the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 30, 2020. During that hearing, he denied authorizing leaks related to FBI investigations into Trump and Hillary Clinton. However, a 2018 DOJ inspector general report revealed that Comey’s then-deputy, Andrew McCabe, stated Comey had authorized him to leak information. The same report also noted McCabe made “multiple false or misleading statements” himself.

Trump on Friday accused Comey of outright dishonesty:

“He didn’t say, ‘Well, in my opinion.’ He didn’t do a lot of things that maybe he should have, but I don’t think he could because he lied. That was a very important question that he was asked, and he wanted to be specific. He didn’t think he’d get caught.”

Comey faces up to five years in prison if convicted. The indictment has fueled debate over accountability for former federal officials, with Trump and his allies framing it as just the beginning of a broader reckoning.

Florida Combat Violent Extremism Portal Targets Political Violence

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has unveiled a new initiative aimed at combating politically motivated violence in the state. The “Combat Violent Extremism Portal,” announced this week, will serve as a digital reporting tool where citizens can submit evidence of threats or acts of political violence.

Uthmeier stressed that the move was a direct response to the growing climate of hostility, including the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk earlier this year. “The idea of someone being assassinated for peacefully opposing radical ideals is vile and anti-American,” Uthmeier wrote in a social media update. “Threats of political violence will not be tolerated in Florida.”

According to a press release, the portal allows users to upload screenshots, videos, and other forms of documentation, either anonymously or with identifying details. Submissions will be reviewed by a statewide prosecutor, who will determine whether an investigation is warranted.

The announcement comes amid reports of a dramatic rise in politically motivated attacks nationwide. Federal data shows that assaults on ICE officers have surged by more than 1,000% over the past year, while online threats and celebrations of Kirk’s murder spread in the aftermath of his assassination.

Statewide Prosecutor Brad McVay emphasized that Florida law will be enforced strictly: “Any individual who makes a threat that violates Florida law will be dealt with immediately.”

Florida’s Commissioner of Education, Anastasios Kamoutsas, also weighed in, pointing to accountability for educators. He announced probable cause to revoke the teaching license of a Clay County elementary teacher who publicly celebrated Kirk’s death on social media. The teacher had posted: “This may not be the obituary we were all hoping to wake up to, but this is a close second for me,” alongside an article about the assassination.

Kamoutsas outlined four charges against the educator: gross immorality, endangering student welfare, reduced effectiveness as a teacher, and failing to separate personal views from their professional role. “We are seeking the revocation of this educator’s license,” he said.

The Combat Violent Extremism Portal is now live, providing Floridians with a mechanism to report politically driven threats and reinforcing the state’s stance against violence in public discourse.

Raskin Demands Answers After Comey Indictment

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, is demanding information about the resignation of U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert, who stepped down while investigating former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

According to The Hill, Siebert allegedly resisted pressure to bring what he believed were “unsupported charges” against Comey and James. After his resignation, President Donald Trump tapped Attorney General Pam Bondi and replaced Siebert with White House aide Lindsey Halligan. Halligan reportedly pushed an immediate indictment of Comey before the statute of limitations expired.

Comey was indicted Thursday on two counts — making false statements and obstruction of a congressional proceeding — tied to his Senate testimony about the 2016 election investigations. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

Raskin blasted the move, calling it “a baseless act of personal vengeance” and “a savage assault on justice in America.” He warned that Trump is waging an “unprecedented campaign of vengeance against his enemies,” which he said includes James, Comey, and possibly others such as Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.

Raskin is requesting all DOJ communications involving Bill Pulte, a Trump ally who leads the Federal Housing Finance Authority. Pulte’s agency reportedly made criminal referrals against James, Schiff, and Cook for alleged mortgage fraud.

Comey has maintained his innocence. But Senior White House adviser Peter Navarro told Breitbart Fight Club that Comey was either “the mastermind or the useful idiot” behind what he called the “Russia Collusion Hoax.”

House Judiciary Democrats confirmed Friday that Raskin sent a letter to Bondi demanding documents and communications surrounding Siebert’s resignation and the decision to pursue charges.

Ohio Bill Proposes Major Overhaul of Juvenile Justice System

A bipartisan effort is underway in Ohio to reform the state’s juvenile justice system, with lawmakers proposing new legislation aimed at prioritizing rehabilitation over incarceration.

Senate Bill 270, introduced by Sens. Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) and Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville), reflects recommendations made by a state-appointed working group that has been studying the issue since November 2023. The group’s central goal is to keep children out of state facilities longer and give judges more flexibility in sentencing.

“As a lawyer whose primary and consistent work has been in the juvenile justice setting, this much-needed legislation will provide guidance for courts and juvenile service providers,” Hicks-Hudson said. “We must make sure that our community and juvenile justice workers are safe, while also focusing on providing appropriate strategies to improve outcomes for children and their families.”

Key Provisions of SB 270

  • Raise the minimum age for sending juveniles to the Department of Youth Services from 10 to 14.
  • End mandatory sentencing for youth in gun-related cases, allowing judges discretion instead.
  • Ban first-time, non-violent felony offenders from being placed in state-run youth facilities.

The working group also recommended broader, non-legislative reforms, including replacing large detention centers with smaller facilities, partnering with local organizations to improve community reentry, hiring outside consultants, and revising funding structures.

Supporters say the bill balances accountability with the opportunity for second chances, while critics may raise concerns about public safety and consistency in sentencing. The legislation now heads to committee for hearings.

Chicago Grocery Tax Budget Shortfall Looms

Bloomington has become the latest Illinois city to reinstate a one-percent grocery tax, joining hundreds of municipalities preparing for the state’s elimination of the levy in 2026. Meanwhile, Chicago could face an $80 million budget shortfall after failing to act before the October 1 deadline.

Chicago’s City Council did not take up the issue during its lengthy Thursday meeting, which ran more than five hours. Budget Director Annette Guzman previously warned that failure to reaffirm the grocery tax would worsen the city’s already massive $1 billion budget deficit.

Mayor Brandon Johnson insisted that discussions are ongoing, but emphasized that the tax was not his initiative.

“I don’t own the rights to any taxes. This is a tax that’s been around for 30 years. The state has historically collected this tax. The state has decided that it no longer wants the responsibility to collect the tax,” Johnson said.

Governor J.B. Pritzker signed legislation in August 2024 repealing the statewide grocery tax effective January 1, 2026. However, the law allows municipalities to impose a one-percent local replacement tax to preserve revenue.

Critics argue that the tax unfairly targets working families already struggling with higher food costs. Speaking before the council, Chicago resident Aron Mantyla, representing The Urban Center, called the grocery tax “a direct hit to working families,” noting food costs are more than 20% higher than just a few years ago. He also warned that small grocers in underserved communities would be hardest hit.

“When costs go up, customers go elsewhere, people move away, or we all cut back. When those businesses close, access to affordable groceries disappears. This is not just a tax, it is a regressive tax,” Mantyla said.

Chicago’s combined state and local sales tax already sits at 10.25%, one of the highest in the nation.

While the grocery tax was left unresolved, aldermen did approve plans for a new Chicago Fire soccer stadium and voted 43-4 to issue a formal apology for the city’s history of slavery. The council’s next meeting is scheduled for October 16.

In Bloomington, the council narrowly passed the one-percent grocery tax earlier this week, with council member Mollie Ward and two colleagues opposing it. Ward argued it would hurt those least able to bear the financial burden, including seniors and low-income families. City manager Jeff Jurgens estimated Bloomington would lose $3 million in revenue if the tax were not reinstated.

Jennifer Lawrence Attacks Israel, Ignores Hamas Terror and Hostages

(Photo by Jeff J Mitchell/Getty Images)

Actress Jennifer Lawrence used a press conference at the San Sebastian Film Festival on Friday to accuse Israel of “genocide” in Gaza, while failing to acknowledge the brutal Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023, or the dozens of hostages still held in captivity.

Speaking to reporters, Lawrence declared, “What’s happening is no less than a genocide and it’s unacceptable,” according to Variety. She added that she was “terrified for my children, for all of our children,” and claimed that political discourse in the U.S. has become devoid of integrity or empathy.

While calling the conflict “complex and disgraceful,” Lawrence made no mention of the nearly 5,000 rockets Hamas fired into Israeli neighborhoods on October 7, 2023, nor the massacre of 1,195 civilians across 21 communities in southern Israel. The dead included children, the elderly, and entire families. She also ignored the plight of the 48 hostages still held by Hamas, many of whom, according to reports, are enduring starvation, beatings, and sexual abuse.

Her framing of Israel as guilty of “genocide” also contradicted demographic facts. In 2000, the Palestinian population stood at around three million. Today it has nearly doubled to six million, undermining the claim that Israel is carrying out mass extermination.

Lawrence has a history of making controversial and inaccurate political claims. In 2024 she falsely asserted that President Donald Trump planned to “ban abortion,” despite him never advocating such a policy. In the same year, she baselessly claimed former Vice President Mike Pence was secretly gay. In 2022, she declared herself the “first woman action star in film history,” erasing decades of female-led action movies.

Her comments at the film festival reflect a broader trend of Hollywood celebrities weighing in on Middle East politics with one-sided narratives, often condemning Israel while excusing or ignoring Hamas terrorism. Critics argue that such remarks distort reality and embolden extremists while dismissing the suffering of Jewish victims and hostages.

Wikipedia Charlie Kirk Assassination Bias Exposed

Wikipedia is under fire for how it has handled pages about Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk following his assassination. Despite policies meant to protect recently deceased individuals, editors added mocking references to Kirk’s last words and smeared his work with unverified claims, drawing criticism that the platform is violating its own neutrality standards.

In the days after Kirk’s death, his Wikipedia page and the page on his assassination received nearly 50 million combined views. Editors locked both articles to prevent tampering by inexperienced users, yet derogatory edits still appeared. Some mocked Kirk’s last words—spoken in a discussion about gang-related shootings—by placing them in sections on “ironic” final words, despite no reliable source characterizing them that way. Others created redirect pages using his last words to link to the assassination article.

Additional controversy arose when editors altered descriptions of TPUSA’s Professor Watchlist, a project that documents far-left professors. One edit falsely claimed the Watchlist sought to “silence” professors through “targeted harassment campaigns,” despite no supporting evidence in cited sources. The edits stayed live for more than a day at the top of Kirk’s article, which was viewed nearly 20 million times during that window.

Meanwhile, vandals posted celebratory comments on Wikipedia calling Kirk’s assassination “justice” and branding him a “fascist.” Some edits even suggested harm to his family. While many of these were quickly removed or hidden, logs show others remain visible.

Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales and several former Arbitration Committee members monitored Kirk’s page during this period, but critics say their interventions failed to prevent policy violations. Administrators like Molly White and Steve Pereira defended keeping certain slanted edits, further fueling accusations of bias.

Left-wing media outlets including Slate defended Wikipedia’s handling of the controversy, portraying criticism as a coordinated right-wing effort to undermine the platform. However, bipartisan members of Congress have already raised questions about Wikipedia’s editorial practices, citing concerns over anti-Israel bias, misinformation, and the treatment of politically sensitive topics.

The fallout highlights how a platform that claims neutrality often becomes a battleground, with narratives shaped by the political leanings of its most active editors. In the case of Charlie Kirk, Wikipedia’s actions have amplified attacks on his legacy, despite clear guidelines intended to prevent exactly that.

Hurricane Humberto Imelda Fujiwhara Effect Threatens Coast

Meteorologists are closely monitoring Hurricane Humberto, now upgraded to Category 1, as it intensifies on a path toward the southeastern United States. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) projects Humberto will reach Category 3 strength by Saturday, with sustained winds surpassing 110 mph, and remain at that level until at least Tuesday.

At the same time, a second system—currently designated 94L and expected to be named “Imelda”—is gaining strength in the Caribbean between Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Forecast models suggest Imelda could make landfall along the southeastern coast, threatening Florida, Georgia, or the Carolinas with heavy rainfall and severe flooding.

The rare possibility exists that Humberto and Imelda could interact through the Fujiwhara Effect, a meteorological phenomenon where two storms rotate around each other and, in some cases, merge into a larger, more powerful system. As of Thursday, the two storms were roughly 600 miles apart, close enough for their trajectories to potentially shift depending on their growth and movement.

Humberto’s current forecast track indicates it will not make direct landfall but will approach the mid-Atlantic states, including South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia, bringing coastal flooding, storm surges, and high surf. Imelda’s path, however, remains uncertain, with meteorologists warning of a possible direct strike on the southeastern U.S.

The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season has already seen extreme activity. In August, Hurricane Erin reached Category 5, battering the East Coast with surges and flooding despite staying 200 miles offshore. If Humberto and Imelda interact, they could create one of the most powerful and unpredictable weather events of the season.

Forecasters emphasize that conditions can change quickly, and residents along the East Coast should closely monitor updates from the NHC as the storms develop.

UK Digital ID Petition Opposition Surges Past 1 Million

London (Sabrina Mazzeo/Unsplash)

The British government’s plan to introduce mandatory digital identity documents has triggered an immediate backlash, with more than 1.2 million people signing a petition opposing the proposal within 24 hours of its official rollout.

The petition, titled “Do not introduce Digital ID cards,” had been circulating since the summer with modest traction, hovering near 100,000 signatures earlier this week. But momentum surged after the government soft-launched its identity initiative Thursday evening, followed by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s formal announcement on Friday.

Under parliamentary rules, any petition with over 10,000 signatures requires a government response, while petitions reaching 100,000 may be considered for debate in the House of Commons. Although such petitions rarely alter policy unless they already align with government priorities, the extraordinary scale of public opposition has drawn attention to the issue.

The push for digital ID cards has faced resistance from across the political spectrum. Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party, several Conservative MPs, Liberal Democrats, and even dissenting voices within Starmer’s Labour Party have criticized the move as an unnecessary expansion of state power and a threat to civil liberties.

Opponents argue that mandatory identity cards would erode privacy and give the government sweeping new powers to monitor ordinary citizens. Critics have also likened the proposal to wartime restrictions, warning that once introduced, such measures are rarely rolled back.

The rapid growth of the petition demonstrates strong grassroots resistance to the policy, making it one of the fastest-growing petitions in recent years. While the government is not legally bound to abandon the plan, the surge in opposition underscores a potential political cost for pushing forward with mandatory ID cards without broad public consent.
