Shock Poll Shows Party Abandoning One-Time Democrat Darling as GOP Embraces

A new poll reveals a stunning political reversal in Pennsylvania: Democrats are abandoning their senator John Fetterman while Republicans are rallying behind him.

According to the Quinnipiac University survey, 54% of Democrats disapprove of John Fetterman’s job performance, with only a third backing him. Just a year ago, 80% of Pennsylvania Democrats approved of his work in Congress. The shift highlights growing tension inside the Democratic base as Fetterman continues bucking party leadership.

Meanwhile, Republicans are warming to him. The poll found 62% of Pennsylvania Republicans approve of Fetterman’s performance—an extraordinary turnaround from last year, when three-quarters disapproved. Independents remain split, largely unchanged.

Fetterman’s break with his party has become more visible since President Donald Trump’s second term began. This week, he sided with Republicans on a funding measure to temporarily stave off a government shutdown, undercutting Senate Democratic leaders and their White House allies.

The senator has also refused to embrace the divisive rhetoric increasingly common among Democrats. “If you want a Democrat that’s going to call people Nazis or fascists or all these kinds of things … I’m not going to be that guy,” Fetterman told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo.

As Quinnipiac analyst Tim Malloy put it: “One-time Democratic darling John Fetterman flips the approval script as Republicans embrace him and Democrats give him low marks nearly two years after GOP voters wouldn’t give him the time of day.”

For Democrats, the warning is clear: Fetterman’s independent streak is winning him unlikely allies—and leaving his own base fractured.

Trump Issues Ultimatum to Hamas

President Trump issued a warning to Hamas, demanding that the terror group respond to the proposed peace deal by Sunday.

“I am asking that all innocent Palestinians immediately leave this area of potentially great future death for safer parts of Gaza. Everyone will be well cared for by those that are waiting to help,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Fortunately for Hamas, however, they will be given one last chance! Great, powerful, and very rich Nations of the Middle East, and the surrounding areas beyond, together with the United States of America, have agreed, with Israel signing on, to PEACE, after 3000 years, in the Middle East. THIS DEAL ALSO SPARES THE LIVES OF ALL REMAINING HAMAS FIGHTERS!”

“The details of the document are known to the WORLD, and it is a great one for ALL! We will have PEACE in the Middle East one way or the other. The violence and bloodshed will stop. RELEASES THE HOSTAGES, ALL OF THEM, INCLUDING THE BODIES OF THOSE THAT ARE DEAD, NOW! An Agreement must be reached with Hamas by Sunday Evening at SIX (6) P.M., Washington, D.C. time,” he continued.

Should Hamas not accept the peace agreement, Hamas will see retribution “like no one has ever seen before.”

“THERE WILL BE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.”

President Trump proposed a peace deal for Gaza that states that Hamas and other entities must “not have any role in the governance of Gaza, directly, indirectly, or in any form.”

“Once all hostages are returned, Hamas members who commit to peaceful co-existence and to decommission their weapons will be given amnesty,” the proposal states. “Members of Hamas who wish to leave Gaza will be provided safe passage to receiving countries.”

Roll Tape: Debate Clip Exposes Democrats’ Support for Illegal Immigrant Health Coverage

A resurfaced clip from the 2019 Democratic presidential primary is sparking backlash as illegal immigrant health coverage takes center stage in the government shutdown fight.

During the debate, NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie asked, “Raise your hand if your government plan would provide coverage for undocumented immigrants,” and all ten Democrats on stage—including Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, and Rep. Eric Swalwell—raised their hands.

That moment, once brushed aside, is now going viral as Democrats deny GOP claims about their record. Former Sen. Al Franken tried to dismiss the charge by asking, “Is JD Vance a liar or just woefully ignorant when claiming that Democrats want to give health benefits to undocumented immigrants?” But conservatives quickly posted the debate clip in response.

Heritage Action summed it up: “Why don’t we let Democrats answer that?” Even Elon Musk weighed in with a simple “lol.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson blasted Democrats for “trying to run away from their RIDICULOUS $1.5 Trillion big government spending bill,” saying the bill’s language reveals their true priorities. Meanwhile, Republicans point to states like California, where taxpayers were forced to cover over $52.7 million in improper claims for individuals with “unsatisfactory immigration status.”

As the shutdown battle intensifies, Democrats want to deflect—but the video evidence leaves little room for spin.

Military Reacts: Hegseth Puts ‘Fat Generals’ on Notice in Fiery Trump-Era Shakeup

War Secretary Pete Hegseth delivered a blunt message this week that is shaking the military community: no more fat generals, no more woke culture, and no more resistance to the Trump agenda.

In his first major address to top commanders, Hegseth demanded accountability and discipline across every level of leadership. “It’s completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon and leading commands around the country and the world,” he declared. “Whether you’re an airborne Ranger or a chairborne Ranger, a brand-new private or a four-star general, you need to meet the height and weight standards and pass your PT test.”

The speech carried a populist edge, aimed at restoring confidence among rank-and-file troops. Hegseth vowed to require all officers to train daily, set gender-neutral standards, and eliminate weak excuses that had long shielded senior brass from real accountability. “We’re not talking, like, hot yoga and stretching,” he said. “Real hard PT.”

Critics called the move dramatic, but supporters see it as long overdue. “A return to warfighting and preparation for winning wars as the priority mission of the department,” said Garrett Smith, a Marine Corps reservist and defense CEO.

Combat veterans praised Hegseth’s willingness to call out Pentagon leaders. Amber Smith put it plainly: “Generals and admirals are on notice. Comply and enforce these new policies and culture or be fired. No more woke leaders.”

That, in the end, was the unmistakable point of Hegseth’s message: the era of political games and physical excuses is over. The mission is winning wars—and “no more walking on eggshells.”

Census Data Confirms Illegal Aliens Do Access Welfare Despite Democrat Denials

As the government shutdown continues, Democrats and establishment media outlets are insisting that illegal aliens cannot receive taxpayer-funded welfare benefits. Yet, U.S. Census Bureau data analyzed by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) shows otherwise — revealing that illegal immigrants do sometimes directly secure welfare, and far more often, indirectly access benefits through household members.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) recently claimed, “Federal law prohibits the use of Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and the Affordable Care Act to provide health insurance in any way, shape, or form to undocumented immigrants. Period. Full stop.” CNN anchors and other outlets have repeated that line, calling GOP warnings about taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants “false.”

However, Census data paints a different picture. CIS researchers reviewed the Census Bureau’s Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) and found that illegal immigrant households do receive welfare at significant rates. According to CIS’s Jason Richwine:

  • 59 percent of households headed by an illegal immigrant receive some form of welfare.
  • 20 percent of illegal alien household heads personally receive benefits such as cash assistance, food stamps, Medicaid, or housing vouchers.
  • In many cases, welfare access comes through U.S.-born children or other legal residents in the household, boosting participation rates far higher.
  • For example, only 1 percent of illegal immigrant heads reported receiving Medicaid, but with citizen children included, the total household Medicaid participation rate was 39 percent.

This finding undercuts Democrat talking points. While it is technically illegal for non-citizens to apply directly for most federal welfare programs, their U.S.-born children are eligible, and benefits flow into the household regardless.

The White House recently warned that Democrat demands to end the shutdown would secure nearly $200 billion in taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits for illegal immigrants. Republicans argue that protecting these loopholes is one reason Democrats are refusing to pass a clean funding bill.

The data confirms what many Americans already suspect: illegal immigrants and their households do, in fact, access welfare benefits at taxpayer expense — despite repeated denials from Democrat leaders and their media allies.

Immigration Judge Denies Asylum Bid for Salvadoran at Center of Political Battle

A U.S. immigration judge in Baltimore has rejected an asylum bid from Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national whose case has become a flashpoint in the nation’s ongoing immigration fight.

On Wednesday, the judge denied Abrego Garcia’s application to reopen his 2019 asylum case, though he has 30 days to appeal the decision to the Board of Immigration Appeals. Abrego Garcia entered the United States illegally as a teenager and has lived in Maryland for years with his American wife and children.

His asylum request was originally denied in 2019 because he had been in the country more than a year before filing. However, the court at that time also ruled he could not be deported to El Salvador due to gang threats against his family. Despite that ruling, the Trump administration mistakenly deported him in March 2019. He was imprisoned in El Salvador before being returned to the U.S. in June following a Supreme Court intervention.

Upon his return, Abrego Garcia was charged with human smuggling tied to a 2022 traffic stop in Tennessee. He now faces both criminal proceedings and deportation attempts. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has proposed sending him to third countries, including Uganda and later Eswatini, drawing criticism from his attorneys, who argue the government is targeting him for political reasons.

Abrego Garcia’s case has sparked partisan debate. Trump administration officials labeled him an MS-13 gang member, despite the absence of criminal convictions. His legal team has filed motions for a gag order, alleging prejudicial and false statements by federal officials could deny him a fair trial.

If he loses his appeal, Abrego Garcia could face deportation and potential return to El Salvador’s CECOT prison, where he claims to have endured torture. Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele has denied those allegations.

The Department of Homeland Security underscored its stance Wednesday, stating online: “This Salvadoran man is not going to be able to remain in our country.”

AP Retracts False Report on Taliban Internet Blackout as Outage Paralyzes Afghanistan

The Associated Press (AP) has retracted a story after incorrectly quoting a Taliban official on Afghanistan’s recent Internet blackout, admitting it mistakenly relied on an unverified WhatsApp message. The correction comes after nearly four days of near-total Internet and mobile disruption across Afghanistan, a move widely believed to have been ordered by Taliban Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada.

According to reports, Taliban agents were seen severing fiber-optic cables in several provinces in mid-September. By Sunday, Internet access had collapsed nationwide, crippling commerce, grounding flights at Kabul airport, and leaving humanitarian groups and U.N. teams unable to operate. Aid organizations warned that the blackout threatened “significant harm to the Afghan people” and risked worsening what is already one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

The AP initially reported that the Taliban denied responsibility, citing a WhatsApp message claiming worn-out cables were being replaced. The outlet later retracted the story, clarifying the message was not sent by official Taliban channels but by an unaffiliated Afghan user with a similar name. The same statement appeared on X from a Taliban sympathizer.

When access partially returned on Wednesday, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid accused the AP of fabricating claims, stating, “The Associated Press claim regarding the justification for blocking the Internet is incorrect and fabricated.” He insisted that official Taliban messages are issued only through recognized channels.

The Taliban later said cellphone services were “gradually being restored,” but gave no explanation for the shutdown. Residents in Kabul and other cities described widespread confusion during the outage and relief when service resumed. “It’s like Eid al-Adha; it’s like preparing to go for prayer. We are very happy from the bottom of our hearts,” one delivery driver told the BBC.

For many Afghans—particularly women banned from education and families separated by exile—the blackout was devastating, cutting off their only link to the outside world.

Gov. Abbott Launches Violent Crimes Task Force in Houston, Promises Expansion Statewide

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced the formation of a “violent crimes task force” in Harris County, a major initiative that brings together state, county, and local law enforcement to aggressively target repeat criminal offenders. The task force will begin operations in the Houston area and is expected to become a model for similar efforts across Texas.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Abbott described the initiative as “a Texas-size effort” aimed at restoring public safety in neighborhoods plagued by violent crime. “This is an effort to crack down on dangerous repeat offenders in the Houston area using the full might of our most elite law enforcement officers,” Abbott said.

The task force includes officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety and other law enforcement entities who will focus on high-crime areas through what officials describe as “saturated patrols.” DPS Director Freeman Martin emphasized that residents can expect to see a heavier uniform presence and increased patrol activity where repeat offenders are most active.

Abbott said the program may expand across the state, targeting urban, suburban, and rural areas alike. “We will look at every corner of the state to make sure we’re making it as safe as possible,” he stated.

While some Houston neighborhoods have experienced rising crime, others, like Greater Greenspoint, have seen significant declines. Abbott praised Houston Mayor John Whitmire for his efforts but stressed that more work needs to be done.

Abbott also highlighted the state’s reformed bail laws, passed in June, which limit eligibility for cashless bond. In November, Texans will vote on Proposition 3, which would further restrict bail for individuals charged with violent or sexual offenses.

The governor aims to make the task force a national model for public safety and confirmed that Texas will continue taking the lead on law and order initiatives.

Terrorist Shot Dead After Attempted Attack on UK Synagogue During Yom Kippur

An attempted terrorist attack targeting the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall, Manchester, was thwarted Sunday morning by worshippers and police. The assault occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. local time on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that congregants successfully prevented the attacker from entering the synagogue. Armed officers responded within seven minutes and fatally shot the suspect, who was wearing a vest designed to resemble an explosive device.

Authorities have since declared the incident a terrorist attack. Assistant Metropolitan Police Commissioner Laurence Taylor, who oversees counter-terrorism policing in the UK, stated, “An attack on the Jewish community today, on Yom Kippur, is devastating. Those who have been killed and injured are at the forefront of our minds.”

Although the suspect’s identity is believed to be known, it has not yet been formally released. Two additional individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. Bomb disposal units were dispatched to investigate the suspect’s vest, which led to the temporary lockdown of the synagogue and surrounding area.

Video footage verified by media outlets showed the suspect on the ground as officers surrounded him. When he attempted to rise, one officer fired a single round. Another video reportedly depicted a Jewish worshipper lying in a pool of blood near the synagogue entrance. Police have not yet confirmed the number or identity of those injured.

The UK government has significantly increased patrols around synagogues and Jewish sites across the country. Prime Minister Keir Starmer returned early from a European summit to lead an emergency COBRA meeting. He condemned the attack, saying, “We will do everything possible to keep our Jewish community safe.”

The Israeli Embassy in London also issued a statement, calling the assault “abhorrent and deeply distressing.” The incident remains under investigation.

Five PA Republicans Join Democrats to Pass Universal Background Check Bill

Five Pennsylvania House Republicans crossed party lines Tuesday to support a Democrat-backed universal background check bill, which passed by a narrow 104–99 vote. The measure requires background checks for all gun sales, including private transactions.

The five Republicans who supported the legislation were Reps. Joe Hogan (District 142), Kristin Marcell (District 178), Kathleen Tomlinson (District 18), Martina White (District 170), and Craig Williams (District 160).

While the universal background check bill cleared the House, three other gun control proposals failed. Gun control advocacy group CeaseFirePA expressed frustration over the outcome. The group’s director, Adam Garbar, said, “The failure of other common sense safety measures on the House floor fails all of us,” and criticized legislators who opposed further restrictions in the wake of recent mass shootings.

Despite passing the Democrat-led House, the background check legislation is expected to face strong opposition in the Republican-controlled Senate. Gun rights advocates argue that such laws do little to prevent crime and instead burden law-abiding citizens.

Nationally, evidence suggests these laws have limited effect. California has had universal background checks in place for decades, yet it led the nation in active shooter incidents in both 2021 and 2023. Critics point to this data to argue that universal background checks are not an effective deterrent and that more restrictions on legal gun owners will not prevent violence.

The House vote signals growing division among Pennsylvania Republicans on Second Amendment issues. With slim margins in the legislature, a few Republican defections can tip key votes. Still, Senate opposition is likely to block the measure unless significant changes are made.
