Trump Bill Spares Coast Guard from Govt Shutdown

U.S. Coast Guard members will get paid this week amid the government shutdown thanks to President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem declared.

“While Democrats have played politics with military pay to fight for illegal aliens, the US Coast Guard has been defending our maritime borders, stopping the flow of deadly narcotics and illegal immigration into our country, and countering America’s adversaries around the world,” Noem said in a statement. “President Trump did not want any of our military to go without pay as a result of Democrats’ political theater, and we at DHS worked out an innovative solution to make sure that didn’t happen.”

“Thanks to President Trump’s leadership and the One Big Beautiful Bill, the brave men and women of the US Coast Guard will not miss a paycheck this week as they continue to carry out their critical homeland security and military missions,” she added.

The statement follows President Trump’s comment on Truth Social that he will use his authority as Commander-in-Chief to “direct our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to use all available funds to get our Troops PAID on October 15th.”

“We have identified funds to do this, and Secretary Hegseth will use them to PAY OUR TROOPS. I will not allow the Democrats to hold our Military, and the entire Security of our Nation, HOSTAGE, with their dangerous Government Shutdown,” he wrote on the social media platform. “The Radical Left Democrats should OPEN THE GOVERNMENT, and then we can work together to address Healthcare, and many other things that they want to destroy.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders Israel Remarks Spark Fury After Hostage Deal

Senator Bernie Sanders’s Israel comments following the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners have drawn outrage after he praised what he called “the long-overdue release” of 2,000 Palestinians — many of them convicted terrorists.

Sanders welcomed Israel’s exchange of thousands of Palestinian prisoners for 20 living hostages, saying the deal presents an opportunity for the United States to “end its military alliance with the Jewish state.” According to the Times of Israel, those released included “hundreds of terror convicts serving life terms,” with one Gaza resident having “raped and murdered a 13-year-old boy,” and others “responsible for a series of suicide bombings and other attacks.”

“The United States provided most of the weapons used for this horrendous destruction,” Sanders said. “The United States spent more than $23 billion in taxpayer dollars to support Netanyahu’s barbaric campaign.” He added, “This must never happen again.”

The Vermont senator’s remarks echoed a familiar line of criticism toward Israel’s defense operations. Sanders said that Oct. 7 did not give Israel “the right to go to war against the entire Palestinian people, killing or wounding almost 237,000 Palestinians.”

Israelis, meanwhile, marked the release by hanging a sign on one detention facility reading, “He who threatens a flood is drowned and wiped out,” referencing Hamas’s “Al Aqsa Flood” terror campaign.

Boeing Awarded Billions for Patriot Missile Development

Boeing announced that it has secured $2.7 billion in multi-year contracts to supply a component for the Patriot interceptor missiles.

The company will be working with Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Army to increase production rates and meet targets for the Patriot Advanced Capability‑3 (PAC‑3) interceptor. Boeing is planning to deliver more than 3,000 seekers at rates up to 750 units per year through 2030.

“Our team has never been better positioned to answer the nation’s call for greater air and missile defense,” said Jim Bryan, executive director of Boeing Integrated Air & Missile Defense. “These multiyear awards recognize the progress we’ve made and will allow us to meet growing global demand for the PAC‑3 seeker.”

“Boeing‑built PAC‑3 seekers enable Patriot interceptors to identify, track and defeat advanced threats, including hypersonic threats, hostile aircraft, and ballistic and cruise missiles,” the aerospace company explained. “Demand for PAC‑3 interceptors has grown in response to recent conflicts and rapidly changing threat environments in Ukraine, the Middle East and the Indo‑Pacific.”

Boeing is also to develop next-generation fighter jets.

“At my direction, the United States Air Force is moving forward with the world’s first sixth-generation fighter jet,” President Trump said earlier this year, adding that “nothing in the world comes even close it, and it’ll be known as F-47.”

“The generals picked the title and it’s a beautiful number, F-47, it’s something the likes of which nobody has seen before. In terms of all of the attributes of a fighter jet, there’s never been anything even close to it, from speed to maneuverability to what it can have, to payload,” he described, noting the fighter jet has “been in the works for a long period of time.”

Like “the game room in a mental hospital.” Sen. Kennedy Describes Senate Chaos

As the government shutdown stretches into its third week, Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy is blasting Democrats for what he calls chaos in the upper chamber — comparing Senate dysfunction to “the game room in a mental hospital.”

Appearing on Fox News’ One Nation with Brian Kilmeade Sunday, Kennedy didn’t mince words about the current state of the Senate. “It’s like the game room in a mental hospital. That’s what the Senate is like right now,” he said. “I’m prepared to just stay shut down. I’m sorry for all the pain it’s causing.”

Kennedy and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, also a Louisiana Republican, said the ongoing standoff is the result of Democratic leadership refusing to rein in spending. Both accused Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of caving to his party’s “far-left fringe” at the expense of American families and the military.

“Our military’s not going to be paid for a while,” Kennedy warned. “They basically want us to repeal the one big, beautiful bill and spend $1.5 trillion. We can’t just give the loon wing of the Democratic Party $1.5 trillion.”

Scalise echoed the sentiment on Sunday Night in America, accusing Schumer of being motivated purely by political survival. “Our polls show AOC would beat Chuck Schumer in a primary,” Scalise said. “He surely doesn’t care about the lives of American families or our soldiers who will not get paychecks next week because of this crazy move.”

With both chambers locked in a partisan standoff, the Senator Kennedy’s comment captured the GOP’s frustration — and underscored the growing divide as the shutdown enters its 13th day with no resolution in sight.

JD Vance Interview With Stephanopoulos Ends Abruptly Over Tom Homan Bribery Claims

A heated JD Vance interview with ABC News host George Stephanopoulos ended abruptly Sunday after the vice president pushed back against questions regarding border czar Tom Homan and alleged bribery claims.

Stephanopoulos repeatedly asked whether Homan accepted $50,000 in cash, citing an FBI surveillance tape from September 2024. “He was recorded on an audiotape… accepting $50,000 in cash,” the host stated. The report, covered by MSNBC, claimed Homan allegedly received the money from undercover agents posing as business executives seeking government contracts under a potential second Trump administration. The FBI reportedly closed the investigation, and the White House said Homan never accepted the funds.

Vance forcefully denied the allegations, saying, “I don’t know what tape you’re referring to, George. I saw media reports that Tom Homan accepted a bribe. There’s no evidence of that. And here’s why fewer and fewer people watch your program and why you’re losing credibility.” He urged the host to focus on “real issues” and accused Stephanopoulos of going “down some weird left-wing rabbit hole.”

Stephanopoulos pressed again, stating, “It’s not a weird left-wing rabbit hole. I didn’t insinuate anything. I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50,000… and you did not answer the question.” Vance attempted to respond, but the interview was cut short.

Afterward, Vance posted on X: “George S doesn’t care about that. He’s here to focus on the real story: a fake scandal involving Tom Homan.”

The White House has previously defended Homan. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “Mr. Homan never took the $50,000 that you’re referring to… This was another example of the weaponization of the Biden Department of Justice against one of President Trump’s strongest and most vocal supporters.”

North Carolina School Therapist Arrested for Allegedly Poisoning Husband After ChatGPT Research

Authorities in North Carolina have arrested a school therapist accused of spiking her husband’s energy drink after allegedly researching lethal poisons using ChatGPT.

Cheryl Harris Gates, 43, faces first-degree attempted murder charges after allegedly adding “prescription medications with the intention of causing a blackout condition or incapacitation” to her husband’s Celsius energy drink, according to an arrest warrant obtained by The Post. Investigators said Gates used ChatGPT between July 8 and Sept. 29 to research “lethal” and “incapacitating” drug combinations that could be injected or ingested.

Court documents indicate Gates purchased materials and attempted to carry out her plan, leaving syringes, a capsule filling kit, medical droppers, scales, medications, and other items in her workspace at home. The victim reported two incidents of incapacitation and finding a foreign, controlled substance in his beverage on July 12 and Aug. 18. At the time, the couple was not living together.

Gates, an occupational therapist formerly employed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, has had her school webpage removed, and the district did not respond to requests for comment.

In addition to the poisoning allegations, Gates faces charges for a separate incident last Tuesday, including stalking and property damage. Arrest warrants claim she placed a tracking device on her husband’s vehicle and caused damage to a window on his property.

The case highlights increasing concerns over the misuse of AI tools in criminal planning, as well as the safety implications of domestic disputes involving professionals entrusted with the care of children.

White House Publishes Middle East Peace Declaration

The White House published the peace declaration signed by President Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The declaration states that the leaders welcome the “truly historic commitment and implementation by all parties to the Trump Peace Agreement, ending more than two years of profound suffering and loss — opening a new chapter for the region defined by hope, security, and a shared vision for peace and prosperity.”

Lasting peace will be one in which “both Palestinians and Israelis can prosper with their fundamental human rights protected, their security guaranteed, and their dignity upheld,” the agreement says. It goes on to declare that “meaningful progress emerges through cooperation and sustained dialogue, and that strengthening bonds among nations and peoples serves the enduring interests of regional and global peace and stability.”

“We recognize the deep historical and spiritual significance of this region to the faith communities whose roots are intertwined with the land of the region — Christianity, Islam, and Judaism among them. Respect for these sacred connections and the protection of their heritage sites shall remain paramount in our commitment to peaceful coexistence,” it adds.

The leaders further “welcome the progress achieved in establishing comprehensive and durable peace arrangements in the Gaza Strip, as well as the friendly and mutually beneficial relationship between Israel and its regional neighbors” and pledge to “pledge to work collectively to implement and sustain this legacy, building institutional foundations upon which future generations may thrive together in peace.”

“Together, we have achieved what everybody said was impossible. At long last, we have peace in the Middle East,” President Trump stated upon signing the declaration. “We’ve heard it for many years, but nobody thought it could ever get there. And now we’re there.”

Press Teams Refuse Pentagon Policy

Several press organizations have refused to sign a new Pentagon policy regulating access to certain areas.

The Associated Press, The Atlantic, CNN, Newsmax, the New York Times, NPR, Reuters, and the Washington Post have each indicated they will not agree to the document. The deadline to sign the agreement is Tuesday evening.

“Pentagon access is a privilege, not a right,” Hegseth said of the new policy. “Press no longer roams free. Press must wear visible badge. Credentialed press no longer permitted to solicit criminal acts. DONE. Pentagon now has same rules as every U.S military installation.”

The news outlets claimed the policy violates the First Amendment.

Only one news outlet has indicated it will abide by the policy. One America News Network’s Charles Herring said in a statement, “After thorough review of the revised press policy by our attorney, OAN staff has signed the document.”

“The Department of War must safeguard classified national security information (CNSI), in accordance with Executive Order 13526 and the Atomic Energy Act, and information designated as controlled unclassified information (CUI), in accordance with Executive Order 13556,” the document says. “Only authorized persons who have received favorable determinations of eligibility for access, signed approved non-disclosure agreements, and have a need-to-know may be granted access to CNSI. DoW may only provide CUI to individuals when there is a lawful governmental purpose for doing so. Unauthorized disclosure of CNSI or CUI poses a security risk that could damage the national security of the United States and place DoW personnel in jeopardy.”

Failure to abide by the policy “may result in suspension or revocation of your building pass and loss of access,” it states.

Amid backlash for the policy, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said, “Let’s be absolutely clear: journalists are not required to clear their stories with us. This claim is a lie.” He listed the new guidelines as: “Have an escort in sensitive areas. Wear a press credential. Don’t encourage our people to violate DoW policy. Pretty simple.”

People Missing, Dozens Rescued in Alaska as Typhoon Halong Devastates Remote Communities

Rescue efforts are intensifying in Alaska after Typhoon Halong left widespread devastation across the state’s western coast, washing away boats, damaging homes, and forcing families to flee rising flood waters.

According to Alaska State Troopers, more than 30 people were rescued over the weekend from the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, one of the hardest-hit areas. At least 18 were rescued in Kwigillingok and another 16 in Kipnuk. Troopers confirmed at least three people remain missing in Kwigillingok, while others are unaccounted for in Kipnuk.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong moved into the Bering Sea on Sunday, bringing hurricane-force wind gusts up to 100 mph and storm surges between four and six feet above normal tides. Videos from Bethel showed floodwaters sweeping away boats and inundating entire neighborhoods, while footage from Emmonak captured strong winds flipping a boat on its side.

State and federal responders — including the Alaska Air and Army National Guard and the U.S. Coast Guard — are working together to locate the missing and provide aid to displaced families. A Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect through Monday afternoon for much of coastal Alaska.

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has begun damage surveys, noting that airports, roads, and utilities have sustained significant losses. Officials warn the crisis could worsen if additional rainfall pushes rivers and coastal barriers beyond capacity.

The Coastal Villages Region Fund, a local nonprofit, said the destruction caused by Typhoon Halong may exceed that of Typhoon Merbok in 2022, which devastated many of the same isolated communities.

Bessent Warns ‘China Financing War’ as Trump Threatens 100% Tariffs in Escalating Trade Standoff

Scott Bessent (Photo by Drew Angerer/Getty Images)

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent issued one of the Trump administration’s sharpest rebukes of Beijing to date, warning Monday that China is financing war and is threatening global stability amid growing U.S.-China trade tensions.

“The United States is pushing for peace in the world. China is financing war,” Bessent said on Mornings with Maria. The secretary accused Beijing of “provocative” behavior as both nations prepare for a potential meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping later this month in South Korea.

Bessent praised Trump’s leadership in responding to China’s recent export restrictions on rare earth minerals — critical components for manufacturing and defense technology. “Trying to get leverage in front of a meeting with Donald Trump is a bad idea,” he said. “He turned the tables with his two very good tweets on Friday talking about raising tariffs and implementing any sanctions that we need to.”

Trump over the weekend sought to ease fears of a prolonged economic conflict, writing on Truth Social, “Don’t worry about China, it will all be fine! … The U.S.A. wants to help China, not hurt it!!!”

Still, Beijing warned Washington against “threats” after Trump floated a 100% tariff on Chinese imports by November 1, pledging to “resolutely take corresponding measures” if the plan moves forward.

Bessent defended the U.S. position, emphasizing allied coordination. “They have pointed a bazooka at the supply chains and the industrial base of the entire free world,” he said. “We’re not going to have it… China is a command and control economy. They are neither going to command [nor] control us.”
