Over Half of Gen Z Have an Anxiety Condition

A report from Harmony Healthcare IT found that 61% of Gen Z have a medically diagnosed anxiety disorder.

According to the report, 54% of survey respondents said their anxiety was worse this year and cited concerns about their future.

Forty-five percent of respondents said they are most concerned about their finances.

Other concerns cited by Gen Zers included work, social activities, and relationships.

Forty-three percent of survey respondents said they have a panic attack at least once a month, while others reported taking medication for anxiety.

Of those who take medication, 83% of respondents said they take it daily.

Fifty-three percent of Gen Zers surveyed reported having gone to therapy or sought professional help to help manage their anxiety.

Fifty-four percent of those surveyed said they scroll on social media excessively when having anxiety.

Over 40 percent of young people with anxiety said they indulged in eating unhealthy food to manage their stress and 30 percent reported binge eating, according to the survey.  

Meanwhile, 34 percent said they consume cannabis to cope with their anxiety while 32 percent said they drink alcohol to manage.
