Over 70 Pro-Palestinian Protesters Arrested After Shutting Down 110 Freeway in Downtown L.A.

Over 70 protesters were arrested Wednesday after blocking the southbound 110 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles for over an hour.

All six southbound lanes were blocked by individuals calling for a cease-fire in the Israel and Hamas war.

Behind the protesters was a miles-long traffic jam south of the interchange with the 101 Freeway.

Police were notified about the protest just after 9 a.m and shortly after arriving began detaining those blocking the lanes.

A tow truck was also called to remove vehicles left by protesters and blocking traffic on the 110.

“We cannot be silent. We have to keep being impossible to ignore until the killing stops, until the mass displacement stops, until the hostages are home, and until the weapons are laid down,” IfNotNow organizers said in a post on Instagram.

“To those stuck in traffic, we sincerely apologize. We wish there was another way. We have tried everything else.”

Angry drivers stuck in the gridlock could be seen arguing with protesters before law enforcement arrived.

The group’s action were allegedly meant to “honor the lives of Israelis and Palestinians who have died in the war,” according to the organizers.
