A recent poll shows that just over one-quarter of Americans want the United States to become heavily involved in the overseas conflict in Eastern Europe.
QUICK FACTS:
- According to a poll released on Wednesday only a little over one-quarter of Americans want the United States to get heavily involved in the Ukraine-Russia conflict according to The Post Millennial.
- The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research released the data, saying that the vast majority think we should have a lower level of interaction with the conflict if any at all.
- Of those polled, 52% think the country should have a minor role in the conflict and 20% said we should have no role in it at all.
MORE ON THE PRESIDENT’S TAKE ON THE CONFLICT:
- This poll came out on the heels of Joe Biden saying earlier in the week that he would be putting sanctions on Russian banks and oligarchs.
- “Defending freedom will have costs for us as well, here at home,” Biden said Tuesday, according to TPM. “We need to be honest about that.”
BACKGROUND:
- The Associated Press reported that Russia has gathered at least 150,000 troops on three sides of Ukraine, and “continues to establish bridges, camps, and logistics necessary for a protracted invasion.”
- The same poll found that there is increasing concern among Americans that there is worldwide Russian influence with 53% of Americans very or extremely concerned about the problem.
